So, there I was, on my way to the place that seemed like Disneyland to the 'Average Joe' and normality to those 'well off.' For the sake of convenience, let's call that place... 'elite.' Elite is a place that is set out to replicate the Italian/Roman scene. It is its own little community in a way. It is known for its fancy restaurants and overly priced stores. It has insanely priced apartments, condos, and suites that overlook the elite plazas. Escalades, Denalis, Vipers, Shelbys, and BMWs line the streets in front of the endless cafés.

Well, here comes me, rolling into the elite with my not-so-high-class car. I am forced to go into the parking garage at the end of the elite property because I do not have $40 to spend on valet parking. I came to the elite that night because they show free movies every week in the summer in one of their outdoor plazas. The sun begins to set as the projector lights up the enormous movie screen. Sound floods the plaza of the elite. The movie begins to play. Instead of watching the movie at first, I take a step back and draw myself out of this entertainment. I listen to the laughing of the soon-to-be drunks. I look up from the plaza at the beautiful apartments that encompass it. I see a man step out from his ridiculously expensive apartment, smoking a cigar and blowing it into the gentle wind. He looks down at those of us with not enough money to live where he lives. He stands their, high and above us, looking around, taking in the beautiful land around him.

When I saw this man, I could only think of one thing, one thing that was stuck in my head. I thought of the book, The Great Gatsby. Gatsby is from the West; he makes a lot of money and moves to the East, near New York. Gatsby is fake; he is 'new money' trying to fit into a place where money has been passed down for generations. Gatsby is nothing but a lie, a lie to his friends, a lie to his family. I picture this man stepping out of his high-class apartment like I picture Gatsby, stepping out of his mansion every morning, and analyzing how fake his life is.

Maybe it's just me. I cannot comprehend the luxurious life of the rich and famous because I, myself, am neither rich nor famous. In a way, I envied him for the assumingly relaxing life he lives in his nice apartment. But in a way, I pity him, never knowing what 'a hard days work' is. I am happy with the life that I am living, and maybe I just can't imagine myself living it any other way.

I realize that many of you think that I am judging this man, but I am not judging him, only the life that I have created for him in my head. The way he looked down at us in the plaza inspired me to create this person. His life that he lives is only depicted in my imagination...his life is the elite.

"I am happy with the life that I am living"

That's all that matters. He is not elite, no one is.

Just some people are more stupid than others. Anyone who looks down on someone for having less money is a true dumbarse.

Rock 'n' Roll had become stagnant. `Achy Breaky Heart' was seven years
away. Something had to fill the void, and that something was barbershop.
