Julius released my arm, gave a sigh, and sat back.
"Well?" I asked.
"Well what?"
"Don't tell me that's the end of the story! What happened to you in prison? What became of Lana? Did you get back at Mike? How did you escape? Tell me what happened!"
Julius gave a short chuckle.
"Kyle, there are some things that people might not want you to see. This is something that you have to understand when you possess a gift like mine. I won't tell you what happened in prison, because I'm sure you can gather already the various atrocities that were done to me. I served twenty years of my life in that place. I never even attempted to escape. I was let out on parole."
I stared back at Julius, unbelieving. This can't be the way it ends. There's so much more I had to know! Julius knew what I was thinking, and spoke again.
"Lana went on to live a normal life. I don't know where she is. However, I know she will soon be looking for me. Unfortunately, she will be too late. I will be dead by that time."
"But HOW!? How do you know these things? You have the ability to read the lives of people and know their hearts, but how do you know the future? It can be prevented, right?"
Julius gave me a warm smile. We had been sitting for what felt like a lifetime..... indeed, it WAS a lifetime..... but in fact, I had known Julius in my lifetime for only thirteen minutes. But still, he was my friend. I couldn't sit there and know that he was going to die.
"I don't know how I'm going to die. I just know that it's soon."
"Well, when is it? I can prevent it, Julius! We can't let a gift like this die with you!"
Julius shook his head.
"Kyle, I chose you because I knew I could trust you. Your heart stood out amongst all the others. However, I cannot allow you to become involved in my own fate. Things like this cannot be prevented. You will know your role in my story soon enough, I guarantee it."
I began to sob. Never had I felt so helpless as I did then. Was this really the end? No.... I had to do what I could.
"Julius, thank you for your time. I will continue to visit you in order to possibly know more about who you are as a man. I'm sure it will make a wonderful book."
"I'm sure it will, Kyle. I'm sure it will."
"Goodbye, Julius."
To be concluded.....

Sounds like Lana was getting what she deserved from her father. Like that movie 'frailty'.

Damn. He wasn't suppose to go to jail. I hate it when shit ends up different then how I want.
But since it is great writing, I still have to +2. This deserves it.
