As great as Ubersite is right now, there's always room for additions. These are just some suggestions and I would love to hear everyone's feedback on them. Each suggestion goes with the corresponding picture. The first idea is Razor's (he allowed me to use it in this post) and the second two are mine.
1) If you look at the picture, you may or may not know that it comes from this page: http://www.ubersite.com/cgi-bin/moreinfo.cgi or http://www.ubersite.com/cgi-bin/moreinfo.cgi?uber=Scott_James really because I arbitrarily decided to use Scott_James as my example.
As you can probably tell from my poor imitation of Ubersite's text, the column titled "Rating Average" does not actually exist on the page. Also the numbers in that column have been fabricated from my imagination so nobody needs to get pissed at me.
Wouldn't it be interesting to be able to see how a certain user rates you compared to the rest of Ubersite? For instance, a +2 from jimbo and Heimdallsman is a bigger achievement than a +2 from Sideburns because Sideburns is more likely to give out higher ratings to just anything. His average rating given out is much higher than jimbo's and Heimdallsman's.
2) This one is pretty simple and could probably be added on to this page (http://www.ubersite.com/cgi-bin/users.cgi) if added at all. Essentially, this is a list of the people with the most hits per post (Total hits / # Posts) with each person on the list having at least thirty posts. I made a minimum of thirty because otherwise the top of the list is dominated by people who posted once and got on boredatwork, posted once with "Hot Grandma Dump Scene (NSFW)", etc. Anyway, this is a top thirty of that list.
3) This is the one that I think is the most interesting. I came up with this idea a while ago when KoolMang made the MVA because a bunch of people were talking about how the MVA is not representative of the best users on the site. Thanks to Bart, we have a very simple tool to use to discover how much, by definition, other users like what a certain user posts. I'm speaking, of course, of a user's Average Rating.
Thanks to Bart's simple +2 to -2 spectrum, it is easy to incorporate it into Hits. If you multiply Average Rating by Hits, we see some very interesting results. This way, everyone on the MVA with a negative average rating is automatically booted to the bottom of the list. A marginal user with something like a 0.64 average rating and only 100,000 hits will have a Total Rating of 64,000, which would knock him or her significantly down. On the other hand, a user with a 1.5 rating and only 64,000 hits will have a Total Rating of 96,000.
I've suggested this to a few people from Ubersite (including Bart), and they all thought it was a decent idea. I am by no means complaining that Bart hasn't used my idea, I am just appealing to the masses and asking you what you think. I understand that the "Total Rating" list would not be an exact list of the best users on the site, but I think it would be a much better representation of the most popular users on the site (something the Average Rating and Hits try to depict).
======================================================
I'd like to thank Razor for collecting all the data and helping me with Excel. Thanks a lot. I'd also like to apologize in advance to anybody who filed for a patent with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for any of these ideas. If you came up with it before me, I DID NOT KNOW. Thank you.

I have another suggestion! I was reading "Badass Australian Cows" and I read through the reviews, and it had best post ever until some guy rated it zero.
Which got me thinking that maybe there should be another list of the longest +2 streak on a post. Then you'd see a clearer picture of good posts before people -2 out of spite.

As usual you hit the nail right on the head. You and mystiamoon are absolutely right, and you're also absolutely right in that it's the best resource we have. I guess it's in Bart's hands now. :)

I get what you mean, and I agree. I like the idea. It would be a better representation of the "best" users, although that's not really what the MVA list is (though some think of it that way).
Another idea, would be to completely do away with the MVA and MVM alltogether. I do think that the MVA list should be changed or removed though. It sets up a goal to a lot of people who interpret it as quantity=quality.
Another small problem I had with your ideas was that they relied on the ranking sytem which is flawed. There is no better answer so I don't mean to knock it, but it's not 100% trustworthy. It's a vague guideline to general whether a post or author is ood. It is based on other people's opinions and often times posts get spammed and the like, and you may not agree with the masses.
Seeing how YOU personally have rated authors is helpful, but even so, you never know truly, personal judgement and momry is the best resource we have and I suggest everyone go by that. And take chances on unknown authors, yeah, you will be disapointed, but you'll also be surprised.
These ideas, are a step in the right direction, but my sentiment remains the same, meh. Bart can do whatever he wants with these lists, as long as Most Heated and Most Recently Reviewed stay, I'm fine. Those are the only lists I generally bother with.

In the end, you might find some interesting things... like a user that is rated a combined .43 above the rest of Uber who rates them vs. a user who is rated a combined -0.1 despite the fact that both people have an average rating of 1.00
That would eliminate, in part, the "+2 my friendz0rs into infinity" factor.

Razor, wouldn't it be simpler just to change it so only your initial review counts? Or is this because you can't make that change retroactive?

I think ghey missed a little bit of the point of my idea.
You take what people have rated you, you check the deviation. That much is in the picture.
Here's the tricky bit though.
You add up all the differentials, then divide by the number of people who have rated you, and you get a result that indicates your deviation from the standard ratings the people who have rated you get out.
In the end, you might find some interesting things... like a user that is rated a combined .43 above the rest of Uber who rates them vs. a user who is rated a combined -0.1 despite the fact that both people have an average rating of 1.00

But Loren, I... I... I thought you loved me?
I think this stuff is all interesting. It's just numbers. Whether you know the numbers or not, they're still there. Providing them in a list doesn't actually change anything, yet it somehow gives the perception that those things are more important, eg. "Hits". Weird.
The first one I think is good. Razor emailed that to me the other day and I don't think I replied. It's good though.
The second one is maybe not that appealing. Here's the list though:

Right, but remember, people, these are just suggestions for additions. The reason I did this was because if Bart liked any one of them, it probably wouldn't be too hard for him to attach them onto Ubersite. I'm not asking him to create a whole new page or a restructuring of the entire website. These are just simple suggestions.

First of all, Mick, if you want a search feature that can do more than just message titles you have two options:
Option 1:
1) Write out a check to Bart Cilfone for three thousand dollars for new hardware and software.
2) Email bart and find out what his address is.
3) Drop the check in the mail.
4) Make out another check to a DBMA so that he can upgrade Ubersite from MySQL to an enterprise level relational database management system. It will probably cost you $10,000 to get a DBMA involved in it... probably a two month project as the DBMA has to figure out how the database works from the ground up and it takes time to migrate the tables.
5) Wait another month or two as bart rewrites all the interfaces between Ubersite and the database, or better yet find a programmer who can do it. The going rate is around $7,000 per month and expect that it will probably take two months.
Option 2:
Wait for bart to expend his own time and money to take this site and rewrite it and enhance it as best he can in his spare time.
Really, from a techincal perspective, I understand exactly why bart has disabled the search function. Things like search were part of the reason you were getting messages when you tried to log on to Uber about how beautiful people just like you were using ubersite and to please come back soon.
Listen Razor dont get fucking sarcastic with me about this.
I contributed to that data base, my information is in there and i want access to it. that's pretty fucking simple to understand.
if there were never an advanced search feature, i wouldnt have a place to bitch.
if there were no advanced search feature i may have not contributed my information.
It is real noble how you take up for bart on everything. it's real pathetic too.

There is reason why I'm considered a +2 whore. For one thing, I'm really nice. If I can tell that someone worked hard on a post, I'll give it a +2 for effort.
I'm also considered a +2 whore because I only usually rate the posts I like. For example, if I read a shitpost, I won't even bother to rate it 90 percent of the time. So, +2 whore? Maybe, but I only usually leave my review if I liked it, if not-- why bother someone with a negative comment when others are going to flame them just as good or better than I can?
Have a +2.

This is interesting. I guess I just always thought of myself as an "Ünderground Überer", so to speak.
As it turns out, it appears I am one Badass Motherfucker.

Yeh, but we're talking about a lesser-of-two-evils scenario here. People can also just as easily refresh their posts at the local library to make sure Bart doesn't block their home IPs. The thing is, the damage is more direct when dealing with the MVA, since it is a list that simply shows "Hits." Alter usernames handing out -2s to the original user would definitely impact the list, but just like the effect on that user's average rating, it is minor at best.
If someone has fifty posts and even ten (ridiculously high, but still..) alter usernames to +2 every one of his posts, chances are he would be found out eventually by bart, other users, or it would matter so little that it would only raise his average rating from .30 to .45 or so, still cutting his posts in half.
That's why we have sleuths like you around, to find out these alter username stragglers. :)

Total rating thing would never work.
Too many people with 853 alters. And you bet that number would increase if this got put into motion.
Too many people who run around handing out -2s all day so they can get some attention and start shit.
I told you this stuff when we discussed this.

Total rating is a good idea.
Although maybe that's just because I'm a raving statistician.
