The word reverberates through the apartment as if it had been spoken.
It is over, we are over, and he is gone.
Where is the peace, the elation, at least a sense of accomplishment? Why do I still feel, nothing?
He is gone and I am supposed to feel something, right? A good dose of justified anger, self righteous womanly power, heart wrenching loneliness anything is better than this nothing.
Hours have passed since the door closed behind him. I expected anger, I got defeat and disappointment.
Fuck him if he can't let me live a little. I will not be owned by anyone! I will not come to my house and have him look at me the way he does. I will drink what I want, when I want.
I don't care what everyone says, they didn't live with him. They don't know. I say this in my head and try to feel it in my heart. There is nothing.
He doesn't know. He doesn't know the rush of being free of the earth's rules and regulations. He can't feel the warmth that comes from my friend. He says a friend is human, not powder.
He held me, I fought it. He cradled me in his strong arms and I sat stoic. He pampered me physically and nurtured me emotionally; I abused his faith in my goodness.
Who gave him the right to deem me good or loveable?
I bitched, I raged, I groused, I frowned, I nagged, I demanded, I didn't move an inch toward the one person who just wanted to be there. I antagonized, I pushed, I stood in his face and challenged.
He left. Not in a rage or with harsh words but with a silent resolve.
There is something wrong with a man that won't fight for what he wants! He should yell, he should push back, he should beg me to change! There is something wrong with him, damnit!

Sorry to break your streak, but I really don't think this was THAT great. It couldn't have taken you long to write, you hardly have to scroll to read it, and it's not all that original.

Thanks for the great responses. I have had a number of emails and a couple of posts here asking if this is real. Yes and no. I was listening to my Jim Croce album and (yes, I said album)thought about my mind set and actions in the past. I wondered what would happen if the person I used to be, met up with the man that I am married to. The result of my wandering mind is this post. I deeply appreciate the concern that I got from many folks.
