I've been thinking about World War 3. I think it's about time.
Back in the 1980's World War 3 was almost certain and in addition to that, it WAS certain that WW3 would be against the Soviet Union. Times have changed.
Today, WW3 might not seem that certain, but our enemy for this round is shaping up to look like an Arab coalition. Where's the fun in that?
I have the more likely story. Going by statistics alone, odds favor Germany as being the enemy for World War Vol.3. As far as World Wars go, Germany, England, France, America, Canada and many others have a 100% track record for involvement. Japan has a 50% statistic. Going on the numbers, they are not likely to be involved in the next one. So, Germany it is then. I mean it just makes sense. Would it really feel like a World War if it was anybody but the Germans?
I know that right now you are scoffing at this suggestion, admittedly, it is ridiculous. Or is it? I suppose if you told the people of the world in the year 1929, that soon there would be another conflict bigger and far more devastating than the last one, and that it would be against Germany again, people would have told you to drop dead. It was a laughable concept.
"Your joking! Germany's not allowed to have an army." they would say.
"Ha! Absurd. We've got our eye on them." says another.
They were all wrong. What if we're wrong too? What if right now Germany is ironing out the plans? Ironing out the plans...to WIN?
They've got a lot to make up for. The German people are a proud people. Much of the motivation for the last war was to make up for mistakes of the first one, namely Germany's surrender. I'll bet the memories still burn like a pit inside of Germany today. They'll never live it down.
Ever wonder why people pick on France and Poland for losing so much? Because they won't do anything and it's just pulling friendly jabs. Every wonder why nobody makes fun of Germany for losing, TWICE? Because they don't need to be reminded.
Besides, I think that the world would be more "comfortable" in a war with the Germans. We've been to that party before, we know what it's all about. A war with the Arabs is a little confusing. They'll be coming at you at random, blowing themselves up dressed in robes and driving old beaten up Toyotas. Blah, how drab! In a new war with Germany you can expect them to have attractive uniforms, crazy new technologies, fancy logos and leaving behind great beer for spoils. And what full blooded American soldier boy doesn't want to visit Bavaria and eye some of them chesty Frau's in their Dirndl? Javol!

War with germany would be great. I'm flying to Frankfurt on Thursday so I'll be sure to make the suggestion to the first German person I see. I'm sure they'll be impressed and we'll all go off and join the SS in our Lederhosen whilst drinking Steins and singing Deutschlandlied. Oh what a happy day it will be...
By the way, I bet the Americans would rather be eyeing nice, German Frauleins than hairy, hostile towel heads.
