I go gently into the darkness and wonder if we might meet again.
It will be a while. Already it seems like forever. Now that the stars have faded away, the lonely cold of the darkness mocks my misery. But within my heart are memories of your love and everything else that you gave to me. It all seems so heavy now but I will cherish the memories.
They keep me sane. They keep me safe. They keep me going.
And they are all I have left now that you are gone.
Oh, I remember when you were with me. I felt careless and alive. Through the good times and the bad. I remember the fresh scars on your wrists and the taste of the tears that I wept when you were looking the other way. I stroked your hair and whispered in your ear.
"I'll keep you safe. I'll make it go away. I promise. I'll help you."
I was wrong. I could not be the hero this time. You wouldn't let me. You broke my heart. Every time I thought I had broken down a barrier you were just moving an extra inch out of reach. But that was always the way. Sometimes I thought I knew you better than I knew myself and other times I felt like there was a complete stranger asleep in my arms.
But you were always my angel.
Above all the others I worshipped you. So strong and yet so fragile; a heart that was black with pain but never lacking in love. Your scorn and cynicism belied the hopes and dreams of the lost little girl who wanted so desperately to be made whole again. I loved you so much for that.
We both knew how quickly the tide could turn and in an instant I found myself floundering as the current dragged me away from you. It had happened before but I fought it and won. Not this time though. It was just too quick for me.
So here we are, both naked in the dark and looking for shelter. We are walking on different paths but heading towards the same destination. I only wish we could have gone there together.
Let's find peace there and maybe, just maybe, I might see you again.

this is good, and fuck if i don't relate. so on a personal enjoyment level, hell yeah. as an objective piece of reading though, it really is way too general. but hey, people who try to criticize something on a basis of something outside of themselves are tools. so +2

This was about the one special person who taught me I could be more than I ever dreamed.
Sorry Jimbo, I love you and all but I don't go in for those crazy backdoor shenanigans... unless I'm drunk.
What?

Beautiful isn't the right word, but it's the first one that comes to mind.

Both sad and uplifting, a strange combination but I suppose it works. Nice.
