My thin black shoes pattered on the wet ground as I walked along the dark downtown street. As I turned the corner, the resonating lights from the skytrain station became visible. I wanted to get home, although I appreciated the freedom of the night, crisp in the urban outdoors. I scanned the white, plastic schedule board, nothing looked familiar. In silence, I stood by the skytrain tracks, waiting for it to take me away. Suddenly, I heard footsteps from the otherwise hushed street. A large yellow jacket peeked around the corner and began timidly approaching the tracks. The jacket looked familiar...
*A girl I knew back in junior high, Nozomi, used to wear that exact same jacket. I really liked her for a time... I forget why we stopped talking, but I do miss her friendship.*
The yellow jacket and the little asian girl inside reached the tracks and stopped, unsure. As she walked towards the schedule board, I recognized her certainly.
"Nozomi! Hey! It's Cale!"
"Cale... Cale! Hey! What are you doing here?"
"Just trying to get home, do you know which skytrain I should take to go back uptown, to the West End?"
"Oh no! I don't know how to get anywhere from here either!"
We both shared a nervous, but surprisingly easy laugh at our predicament.
"Don't worry Nomi, let's ride the skytrain together until we find your house. I'll get home eventually, I like the spring night anyways."
"Thanks Cale!"
As if on cue, the skytrain came screeching up to us. We boarded and sat down together as the mechanical doors slided tightly shut. In the heated cabin of the skytrain, I removed my gray coat and threw it onto a seat across from us. We were the only ones on the skytrain this late at night. I liked the atmosphere; speeding along watching the night fly past my window. Jade looked warm in her oversized yellow jacket. I liked the way it covered her so completely and made her safe. I couldn't help but smile, she smiled back.
We rode the skytrain for what seemed like an eternity. We talked about the past and about the future. Sometime, her fingers became intertwined with mine, and mine with hers. There was something unexplainable about those moments. We shared an arcane experience in that spring dawn, riding the skytrain. We grew closer together. The big yellow jacket and the petite asian girl inside, resting against my shirt. We talked intimately, about our past moments together, before our falling apart and our current reunition.
*We had gone to an amusement park as kids, fresh out of elementary school. I knew her moderately well, but that day we rode all the rides together. Her frackled, big eyed face (So rare for an oriental) peered back at me, before the climax on one ride, and I knew I wanted to spend my life with her. Then we sped down a large decline and screamed.*
She kissed me lightly before she fell asleep against me. So content. I held her to me, her soft, yellow jacket in my hands as we sped along the elevated tracks. So content, I slowly drifted off to sleep, my head against her shimmering black hair.
Then I woke up. I blinked off the drowsiness. I was laying on a mattress in my bedroom and my cell phone was ringing. On the display it read: Umeko
My girlfriend was calling.
I tried to get back to sleep...

thanks for two people who read my post. even though i wrote it in 30 minutes at 4 am, i think it wasn't as bad as everything else I've written here.
the best of any of the stuff i've read so far.

DAMMIT!
Her name was Jade until I changed it to Nozomi when I discovered that it meant hope in japanese or something. I thought I changed all the jades to nozomi or nomi, but it turns out I'm a handicap.
Can't believe me or the 20 other people who reviewed this post didn't notice.

Thanks ruthless you soljah. I didn't intend to make it "sweet" kinda more like about how our life isn't all like magical and good like it, so the tracks brought me back to bad reality instead of a blissful dream fashow? >< yes. =)
