i know i know you all hate poetry i apologize in advance
vacant eyes stare aimlessly
through the darkness ahead
a future darkened
and decayed
a past that never
too quick could fade
a long hopeful life traded
for a moment of pleasure
and eighteen years of
pain to burn
behold the abyss
through menacing eyes
tortured with decision
still a poor child
all love had parted her
so very long ago
she makes the journey on this
dark and lonely road alone

I don't dislike poetry, I'm sorry but this did nothing for me. It didn't evoke the emotional response I need from that sort of poetry, I didn't like the two-line stanza setup, and I felt it needed more depth. But poetry is very personal and subjective, so don't take it to heart.
