Left this letter on the desk in my managers office...
__________________________________________________________________________________________
Before I go into why I am quitting I am going to explain why I bothered taking this job in the first place. I started employment here because I do not mind a little manual labor. I was in between things at the time, and Ben coaxed me into it. He spoke of how badly help was needed in some areas, and how cool the people already in place were in others. He was absolutely correct in reference to the shitty caliber of people who work my line; he was also correct about the quality of the rest of the people.
No matter how I am feeling when I head into work I make myself work hard, be professional, and not cause trouble. In return for this, there is a certain amount of respect I demand in return. When a company disrespects me I take is as a direct insult to my hard work. When a company calls me on my day off, tells me they changed the schedule the day before, and informs me that I now close...this is a slap to the face. When a company has me closing until one in the morning, only to have me come back in at seven the same morning to do menial chores that could be completed at any point throughout the day...this is a slap to the face. When a company can not manage to publish a weeks schedule until ten pm the day before the schedule starts...this is, well, not only a slap to the face, but simply unprofessional.
I have come to realize why the people who are on the line in question are all either worthless, or they quit. While you could not pay me any amount of money to put up with such poor treatment, six dollars an hour is not enough for anyone with any nuance of personal pride to tolerate it.
Employers always have this sense of having the upper hand. They seem to feel like people need the jobs they provide, and are replaceable anyway. What employers on your level fail to comprehend is that they themselves are in fact replaceable. As a hardworking individual I can get another 6 dollar an hour job any day of the week. I have never had an interview without being hired and never searched for a job more than a week without getting one.
This attitude you have of being able to treat employees however you want leads you directly into your shortage of quality workers. You either have to promote people quickly into money that makes the job worthwhile, or lose them, leaving behind a sinkhole full of shit at the base. You have no one but yourself to blame for your woes. Maybe one day you will desire a full team of hard working people and try being professional out...maybe you will grow tired of complaining about how shitty the bottom rung of the business is...then again, maybe not. Either way, I do not have to deal with these...growing pains. Do not bother scheduling me next week, I will not be in.
Sincerely,
David C. Jones
p.s. I would be very interested in reading a reprisal to this, assuming someone in management bothers reading past the first line where I say I am quitting. It, as well as my forthcoming paycheck can be sent to me at 4803 Madison Ct. Davenport, Iowa 52806.

Am I the only one who is never sure when Loren is being serious or not?
Once she's handed her ass everything she said becomes a joke right away. Oh yeah, and sorry about that picture, I was tired(baked) and just wanted to get the shit finished. Since I stopped posting a picture everyday I have massive amounts of material piling up. I think of something asinine and stupid daily and write it down for later. Next one will be better, I promise.
Nice resignation letter by the way.
You like?

This is the exact opposite of when I quit the only job I ever quit.
While sitting there on a beautiful saturday afternoon, I said "Yeah, I don't think I want to be here today. Or ever again for that matter."
I ran that place since I was 16, and used it as extra money when I got a real job. When it sunk in that the owner didn't appreciate the help, I left. Set my key to the door down on the table, and never returned. That was a couple years ago... and I'm glad to find out that he lost his ass and had to sell.

Mystia - That of course is a simple perk of quitting my job. Although I am trying to have more normal hours. As for Rixes post...wow...I look awful.

You forgot to include the main reason you are quitting.
This job has seriously cut into your *Mystia* time.
Does this mean you will be there waiting for me to get home from work again?
If so then YAYYYYY.
p.s. I'd kill rixes for making you a fat hairy bastard in last nights photoshop. If you didn't see it, it's on the second page.

atz - I have no idea buddy. I would imagine you would end up with less over all money even at 5.15 once you start paying taxes, but of course, it would be far more legal.
shitfuck - I was worried it would be a little too high level vocabulary wise for a lifetime shift manager at a restaurant to really grasp fully, but well...it doesn't really matter at this point.

H AHA HA HA HA!
That's fucking awesome Davy! Way to fuck 'em. I bet those middle manager types are busy thumbing through a dictionary trying to understand if you were serious or not.

I'm seventeen, just graduated, and I work at a gas station for $5.00 an hour, cash. My boss doesn't take out taxes. I've been working here for about five months, and he says he wants me to give him some information such as my SSN (I never filled out an application). I asked him if he would then have to take out taxes. He said yes. I then said that I thought minimum wage was higher than $5.00 (in which case he would have to give me a raise), and he said it was actually something like $4.75.
I figured that he might be right, so I looked it up on the Department of Labor website (http://www.dol.gov) to make sure. Apparently, minimum wage is $4.25 for anyone under the age of 20 for the first 90 days of employment, after which it would go up to $5.15 (the actual standard minimum wage). So if he did employ me the right way, he would have to give me a raise (although with taxes taken out it would still be less than $5.00). Then again, he might not have to give me a raise for the first 90 days since I'm not technically employed right now.
He said that I don't have to do it, but I might be able to receive some benefits and "it will put me on the tax bracket." So, would it do me any good? I do intend to keep this job either way.

Am I the only one who is never sure when Loren is being serious or not? Maybe I am just automatically defensive because I know she hates me for that Schwenck thing...
Loren, let's start over. I mean, that Schwenck post doesn't even exist anymore...except for in my own files. Sure, I did that one post where I got the virus kid in some trouble, but c'mon, he was asking for it.
Besides, I am carrying your baby. It's for your child's best interest that you learn to love me.
...
What? It always seems to work for women, I figured it was my turn...

"As to the volumes it speaks, well, you may be looking for things that don't exist."
It's called a "joke" DJ.
I live in NY. I am aware of the differences in cost of living. But regardless, $10 an hour 17 years ago is still a lot more than $6 an hour today. Iowa or not.
I'm bored. I think I'll do some work.

I had a job like that back in Highschool. I worked at one of the slowest Pizza Huts in the franchise, and we were always understaffed. Closing went to 2 or 3 in the morning, then opening would start at 8 am. there were more than a couple of times that I just slept on the bench in the lobby and set one of the dough timers to wake me up. There was also at least once that the schedule didn't even make it up the day before and three of us showed up for the opening shift just in case. That was dedication for a shit job. Minimum wage yet we showed up without knowing we had to work just because we wanted to make sure everything worked out fine. Needless to say one by one we eventually left for better things, and the manager ended up quitting. That store is now nothing more than a parking lot in Spokane.

You had every right to qout there. I hate it when things like extra shifts are decided over the heads of the people that have to do them.

Loren - just took this job due to a lull in my web design projects where I do in fact make much more then 6/hr, also, where do you live? Factor in that Iowa's cost of living is really, really low - minimum wage is 5.15. As to the volumes it speaks, well, you may be looking for things that don't exist.

$6 an hour?? Is that minimum wage? My god, when I was SEVENTEEN I was making minimally $10 an hour, and that was in 1987. I can't imagine having to settle for slave-wages like that.
This speaks volumes to me when it comes to understanding your attitude.

WOAH. 2 Apollos...double the awesomeness...I'm not sure Uber is ready. While I did play some goalie is grade school, it was actually just a grunt job at a sit down restaurant. Peel potatoes, break down boxes, do dishes...any thing no one else wants to do.
Lo - thanks for the well wishing.
Bob - Why? Should I fear a mailbomb soon?
