I have a confession.
I am a gamer girl. I enjoy Dungeons and Dragons. I enjoy, most of all, Vampire the Masquerade.
I play table-top games and LARP (live-action role-play). I'm addicted. I must play in about ten different games, all in all.
One of the best things about being a gamer girl is the guys. Oh, don't get me wrong--I'm not a slut or anything. I don't sleep around. I don't even date around. But gamer guys rock my world. Most of the guys I meet at games have long hair. I love long hair. And they're so nice and sweet, and they make me feel beautiful. I was never popular before I started gaming, and now that I go to games every weekend, I find myself surrounded with friends.
If you have low self-esteem, consider joining the gaming community. It'll do wonders for you.
The typical gamer guy is in his twenties, single, with a mediocre job. He can be a little immature at times, but it's really more adorable than annoying. He's well aware of his faults, and makes fun of himself, but would never seriously make fun of a friend. Not to hurt anyone's feelings. Gamer guys are funny and considerate. They know what to take seriously, and what to brush off. Gamer guys make great boyfriends. They rock my world.
Gamer guys know how to take a joke. They play characters in a fictional universe. Their characters usually amplify areas in which they feel inadequate. The thing is, they play the characters so well that it's obvious they're not inadequate. Many gamer guys master sexy accents for their characters. They're interesting to talk to, and are really into the same stuff as gamer girls. We all like the same authors and TV shows and video games. There have been some serious HALO tournaments among my circle of friends. With gamer guys, I always have something to talk about. We can joke around, or take up a serious topic like politics. It's great.
The guys I know from game are all self-conscious, and it's endearing for them to be bashful around girls. They're really nice guys, and the fact that they're shy around the opposite sex makes them even more appealing to us gamer girls.
I was initiated into the world of gaming a little over a year ago. Before then, I had never really dated all that much. Being around gamer guys has boosted my self-esteem and confidence. They're quick to compliment their girl-friends, and always know when a compliment is most needed. They're indiscriminating in their choices of friends. They don't care if someone is gay, Jewish, French, black, or whatever--so long as you're into the same stuff. Gamer guys are good people.
And, of course, there is a lord-god-king of the gamer guys. My boyfriend. He definitely rocks my world.

indeed, videogames do kick ass. they are our generation's version of going outside and playing with our friends, only this way we can do it while sitting on our lazy asses.
this coming from the jerk-off who always heads directly for sniper rock in blood gulch.

I do role playing myself. And I love it. We're doing a vampire masquerade campaign at the moment (for the last 4 months) and it kicks far more ass than any computer game ever could. Besides I am into two other campains at the moment.
But about one thing I wondered since I started doing this. Why are there not more girls doing role playing? The ratio would be 8:1 or something (my experience. Correct me if I am playing in the wrong groups). And that is just sad. I would love to play in "mixed groups". I really would appreciate the presence of girls during these games. Not only because I am a male, but because I think girls tend to make these games more interesting.

I'm a geek at heart and I love playing all kinds of different games. I played D&D and all that shit when I was in high school. I mostly love strategy games and I even had stuff published in a couple game magazines back in the day. But the people that are into those "live action" games are freakin' wacked. Please, I beg you. Get out. Learn how to socialize with real people and teach yourself real fashion.

I think the reason that gamers are good people is because they don't rey to be anything they're not, except when they are trying...uhh...When they aren't playing they are generally genuine people who don't pretend to be anything but themselves.

First off: Your a fucking dork. That's coming from a former/current "gamer guy".
I played rifts/D&D/Shadowrun/Vampire (both tt and LARP), and many others most you probably haven't heard of (any heard of Kult?)
The guys you play with sound like pussies. They are the type of guys that me and my friends would have grown up into if we didn't, well, grow up. It seems that everyone in my group (because we do currently game once in a while) do not fall into your "gamer guy" description...lets see:
we have a business OWNER.
we have a guy who studying to become a DOCTOR
we have a guy who teaches rich peoples kids to swim
We have a girl who is studying to be a lawyer
We have a guy who goes to college for architecture
We have a girl who is studying to be a child psychologyst,
and we have me.
A formor military dude who is starting college in 2 weeks, and is going into respritory care.
None of us have long hair (the girls are shoulder length, ironically enough), none of us have low self-esteem, none of us are self-concious, and all of us either have great jobs, or are going to have great jobs.
The only redeeming thing about your post is the word "Halo". for that I give you a -1

She mentioned ROLE PLAYING games, not video games.
Video Gamers are mostly losers...if you can't put the controller down and do other things.
If you love videogames, but know when it's time to quit. You don't fall into that "loser" category.
The fact is, that most "gamers" are not really "playas" so she found some nice people.
It seems that most women would rather date a guy that looks like a 10, but is mentally a 2 rather than date a guy who looks like 7 or 8 but is mentally a 9-10. This person is a very small minority. She's probably treated very well wherever she goes, because there aren't many women around D&D gamers... But the ones that are around are usually pretty cool.

If there was only one thing I could keep if the Ice Age came, it would be the following;
-Gamespy
-Battlefield Vietnam
-Cable connection
-Good computer
-Other players around the world
Video games are the greatest drug ever. I see some of the best humour on BFV when some stupid jackass kills me, and gets banned because of it, or when he crashes a Huey in a fucked-up way.
