I am not a music phanatic. I don't listen to the radio, I don't play any instruments, I never watch music television, and I haven't bought a CD in approximately three years.
I do, however, burn an occasional CD. Usually they are mix CD's that contain tracks I've either read about online, or had recomended to me by friends. I rarely burn albums, as they tend to have too many unsatisfying tracks and idiotic skits.
One day in my American history class, my friend Andy and I were conversing about rap CDs coming out in the future. He told me he had planned on buying Ghostface's new album. I remembered a while back I had downloaded one of Ghostface's songs, and liked it. So I told Andy when he bought the CD to let me borrow it so I could burn it.
The album is called The Pretty Toney Album. It came out about a month ago or so. Here is the track list:
01. Intro
02. Biscuits**
03. Kunta Fly Shit
04. Beat The Clock*
05. Metal Lungies*
06. Bathtub Skit
07. Save Me Dear**
08. It's Over*
09. Keisha's House Skit
10. Tush
11. Last Night Skit
12. Holla**
13. Ghostface*
14. Be This Way*
15. The Letter Skit
16. Tooken Back*
17. Run**
18. Love
I put an asterik next to the tracks I think are the best. Two means very good.
I hadn't heard of Ghostface until about a year ago when I heard a single on a friend's CD. His flow and voice are definately not what a typical rap fan is used to, but his unique ability to tell a story in each of his songs is what makes him special, at least in my opinion.
He isn't like a 50 cent or Lloyd Banks. He won't rap about going to the club, getting his dick sucked and smoking a fat one. Just look at the beginning of his song "Holla" :
I'm from a place where fish was made
Cordoroy Baley's, sportin' those Rakim caves
Rakeem came, high self asteem promised me
A moment in life, just to wreck y'all lames
Throw the Tec to your brain, puttin' the best to shame
This is Theodore, best to tuck those Dana Dane's
His lyrics and style will definately take some time to get used to, but its definately worth it. If you are a fan of rap and are tired of the some old hackneyed-gangsta-canary-shit, then I suggest you get Ghostface's album. And if you plain just don't like rap...you can fellate me.
