This may seem early, but the Fantasy Football season is only a month away. Every week I'll be profiling a different position(unless this isn't well recieved). The first position will be quarterbacks. Quarterbacks provide the highest amount of fantasy points. You only start one quarterback, which lowers the demand. The key for selecting a quarterback is to wait for a good one to fall to the mid-rounds of 5-7. Second tier quarterbacks(Favre, Green, Hasselbeck) preform nearly as well as first tier quarterbacks(Manning, Vick, Culpepper). If you don't believe me, look at the stats.
2003 Stats
Peyton Manning-4267 yds, 29 tds, 10 ints, 238 fantasy points
Daunte Culpepper-3479 yds, 25 tds, 11 ints, 230 fantasy points
Matt Hasselbeck-3841 yds, 26 tds, 15 ints, 220 fantasy points
Trent Green-4039 yds, 24 tds, 12 ints, 214 fantasy points
Brett Favre-3361 yds, 32 tds, 21 ints, 213 fantasy points
Steve McNair-3215 yds, 24 tds, 7 ints, 212 fantasy points
Aaron Brooks-3546 yds, 24 tds, 8 ints, 198 fantasy points
John Kitna-3591 yds, 26 tds, 15 ints, 194 fantasy points
Brad Johnson-3811 yds, 26 tds, 21 ints, 187 fantasy points
Jeff Garcia-2704 yds, 18 tds, 13 ints, 187 fantasy points
Tom Brady-3620 yds, 23 tds, 12 ints, 185 fantasy points
Marc Bulger-3845 yds, 22 tds, 22 ints, 179 fantasy points

Chad Pennington-2139 yds, 13 tds, 12 ints, 106 fantasy points
Jeff Blake-2247 yds, 13 tds, 15 ints, 104 fantasy points

Favorable trades over the offseason
Jeff Garcia to Cleveland-Jeff Garcia, and the 49er's coaching staff were hounded by TO last year for not throwing the long ball enough. In Cleveland he will no longer need to worry about his arm strength. Cleveland's recieving corps remains largely intact(Except for Kevin Johnson), which leaves Garcia with three capable revievers. With the addition of highly praised tight end Kellen Winslow Jr., Garcia should return to stardom.
Mark Brunell to Washington-Last year the Jacksonville Jaguars put potential over experience, starting rookie Byron Leftwich over the established veteran Brunell. Brunell now gets the spoils of departed coach Steve Spurrior's Gator offense, two good recievers in Laveranues Coles, and Rod Gardner. First year coach Joe Gibbs will try to run the ball as much as possible, but halfback Clinton Portis' durability has been suspect. Also, with opposing defenses keying on the run, the deep pass should open up.
Kerry Collins to Oakland-Kerry came from the New York Giants, where in 2002 he led the NFC in passing yards. Last year Collins, and the rest of the Giants went into a year long slump. He got very little protection from his offensive line, which was riddled with injuries. The Giants were looking to replace him when they acquired #1 draft pick Eli Manning, and former MVP Kurt Warner. They then dealed Collins to the Oakland Raiders. Collins will have to beat out incumbent Rich Gannon for the starting QB job. Oakland has talent, and experience at wide reciever. Joey Porter has size, and athletic ability. Jerry Rice, and Tim Brown may be AARP members, but they still have the ability to catch. Collins will also have a much better protection, with pro bowl tackle Lincoln Kennedy, and rookie tackle Robert Gallery, the second overall pick.
Don't jump on the Bandwagon
Eli Manning/Kurt Warner-Manning seems to be a slow learner, and people in New York are saying that he probably won't be ready by the opening kickoff. Another word from the Giant's camp is that Kurt Warner seems to be throwing worse than everyboby's favorite bachelor, Jesse Palmer.
Micheal Vick-Last year Vick went in the first round in many drafts. This risky move backfired as Vick went down before the season even started. Vick will probably be a first round choice again, due to his name. The only quarterback that should even be thought of as a possible first round pick is Peyton Manning.
Turnaround Players
Donovan McNabb-After being touted as the second or third best fantasy QB last year, McNabb failed to live up to expectations, and ended the season in 13th. Eagles management granted McNabb's wish for a competant wideout by trading for Terrell Owens. TO has been one of the most productive recievers in the past 4 years. The one risk in this move is Owens' behavior. Last year Owens contaminated the 49er's morale with his attitude, and drove the annual playoff contenders below .500. In Philly Owens won't always get what he wants from coach Reid, but the relationship he seems to have developed with McNabb should prevent tantrums. McNabb can also provide the throwing power Owens lacked in San Francisco.
Joey Harrington-In the begining of the 2003 season Harrington was at the top of his game. His production dropped dramatically after #1 reciever, and 1st round draft pick Charles Rogers went down with a season ending injury. This year Harrington gets Rogers back, and rookie wideout Roy Williams. This also moves the speedy Az-Zahir Hakim into the slot, a role he's more suited for.
Dark Horse
Josh McCown-Dennis Green has expressed tremendous support of McCown. A decade ago Green transformed the Minnesota Vikings from laughingstocks to playoff contenders. He made mediocre quarterbacks into superstars by surrounding them with talented wide recievers. McCown has the same situation in Arizona. He gets to throw to the 2003 rookie of the year Anquan Boldin, Larry Fitzgerald the best college wideout last year, and their 2002 first pick Antonio Bryant.

I was basing where they would go on the draft board by looking at the mock drafts on http://www.antsports.com/
If you select a QB in the first round you'll probably get stuck with at least one sub-par running back.

In my leagues, QBs always go first, also. Generally Favre, Hasselbeck, et al are gone by the 3rd round, and Vick and Manning are usually the first two picks.
You get a +2 just to counter the damn rugby whores down there.

So QB's don't go in the first round? Does your league score for yardage? Usually Qb's are the first to get picked.

+2 because that is a pretty decent one-liner
-2 because there is always a chance you didn't intend it
