Lately I have been writing a lot about my recovery from alcohol. I will continue to write about it.
The topic here is ice cream, not only is it a fatty sugary dairy product, it's a godsent.
The night that Rizzo broke up with me over the phone I was pacing back and forth like a nut. My sister and Rob said, "Joanna lets go get you some ice cream."
When I was in the hospital I would request it everyday. I had to have it.
Just last night when I was craving alcohol, I stopped myself and said, "no I will go to Baskin and Robbins and stay there all night if I have to trying all 32 flavors."
Everyone that has gotten to know me in recovery uses ice cream as a distraction for me. They know that it cures my immediate cravings for alcohol.
This weekend I found myself sitting on the hood of my friends cars just eating containers of it all night....Wawa brand, Haagen Daas, Ben and Jerry's, Edy's, Breyers,Godiva and much much more.
I eat at least one scoop of ice cream everyday.
They say an apple a day keeps the doctor away, nah its a scoop of ice cream a day keeps me sane.
I love it.
Everyone should list their favorite kind, brand, flavor of ice cream here under my post.

Shut out all the "crap" from your head, and keep on truckin' with your program. NOTHING is more important for the time being. Did anyone suggest to you that you should be hanging around with the women in the program rather than the men? I've seen you mentioning a male friend a few times. It's just a bit dangerous early on in recovery. Could bring a whole host of things to deal with at a time when you need to focus on more important things. I know after the Al-anon meetings I went to in Memphis alot of people would go out for dinner in groups. So I'm not saying ditch your friend or anything; just keep your proverbial ass covered.

Ice cream is great. I find a good walk can keep me sane. Ice cream is better though. Yay for you for keepng sober!

Tin Roof Sundae ice cream is my favorite. vanilla with caramel and fudge swirls, and chocolate covered peanuts. I used to go to the local ice cream shop and get a big scoop on a waffle cone.

While not really a flavor or a brand, my favorite ice cream treat EVAR is a hot fudge malt.
Vanilla ice cream
Hot fudge
Malt
Oh my god, if you've never had such a thing, make sure you're sitting down before you take the first sip. It's like crack, but in ice cream form.

Good for you, at least you have something to keep you sane. My favorite is really plain but oh so good. PET's french vanilla, yuuuuummm! but if you like chocolate and caramel, you need to try Ben and Jerry's Karmal Sutra, it chocolate on one side and caramel ice cream on the other, but in the middle is a core of pure sweet caramel, damn that's good!

Well, be prepared to gain 700 pounds. I quit drinking too. When I was drinking I was Tony. When I
gave up drinking/smoking I became Fat Tony.
Drinking makes you fat? Ever seen a fat bum? Yea, those guys are fucking huge. If you drink a lot
of beer, sure you'll get fat. But if you are an alchie like our almost hot poster, you drink hard
stuff which does not make you fat.
People would talk behind my back when I was an alcaholic. Now that I am Fat Bastard, they talk
infont of me. Like I'm not human. You can be a whore, a drug addict, an alcaholic, a wife beater,
a dead beat father, a cheat, a liar, a child molester and as long as you are not a fatass you'll
get a lil respect. Gain a few hundred pounds and you automatically become freak. Mainly to the
whores, drug addicts, alcaholics, wife beaters, dead beat fathers, cheats, liars, molesters,
racists, etc.
Go back to drinking. You're doable. Not hot, yet not ugly, just doable. If you get fat, you will
become a nothing. A nobody.
