Hi guys this is my 3rd post lol and im kinda more a longer ubersiter now so u can stop bein meen with ur rating now plz u guys didnt like my other 2 posts very much so i thort i wood right sumthing a litel more serous n its not as funny as the other 2 but it makes u think stil its about plants and wat its like to b a plant like i mean think about it wat do u think it wood b like coz u have 2 sit in the same spot the entir time and u cant move or anything and u have no chose wear u go or do kinda boring lol and also do u think plants have feelings like u no wen u mite spray them with pousin or ur dog mite chew on them do u think that they can feel that n it makes them relly sad i do becoz i think plants r reel lifein things and so there like dogs and cats they have feellings rite it makes sens if u think abot it do u think that plants can talk to each other like mayb we cant here them and they talk to each other in plant talk mayb with there brians or sumthin oh and if u think that plants cant alk with each other do u think they can have fights n stuff or mayb b in love with each other like ppl do hmmm i dunno i think they mayb can wat do u guys think reply n lemme no wat u guys think ok lol n remembr dnt rate me becoz i havent bn hear as long as u have rate me on my talant and how much u like my post ok bye

I heard that some plants drop burs to cling to animal fur, to spread the seed. I always wondered how the plant would know to evolve to do that, without seeing or thinking. How would it know that if it drops SPIKY seed that it will spread further, that it will sprout new plants in no way connected to the original, miles away?

They may even be sentient beings.
He told me, "I hadn't thought of it until now, but how does a fruit tree know how to make a sweet attractive fruit that animals will eat when it drops off, and spread the seeds? How do flowers know how to attract bees with sweet, fragrant nectar, and get their pollen spread about, assuring a next generation? They may be doing this consciously!" Maybe Disney will make a cartoon about a happy little vegetable. He will be called Buddy the Carrot. He'll lose his mother to the farmer when he picks her, and eats her. That could do to vegetables what Bambi did to meat! Carrots may in fact be more intelligent than deer. Who knows for sure?

Once hyperexponentiating computation has permeated virtually all the local matter and energy in its vicinity, what must it do next? There are at least two competing options that have been proposed by those presently forecasting the future of cosmic intelligence, expansion or transcendence. In expansion, the current perspective of the vast majority of thinkers on this subject, intelligence will inevitably move outward at close to the maximum speed that information can travel. Even with the quantum strangeness and black hole physics that are currently generally accepted, this speed is apparently some large but very finite fraction of the speed of light.
In transcension, once intelligence saturates its local environment, it is constrained to leave local spacetime. It learns how to enter hyperspace, that suspected multidimensional environment hinted at in our string and supersymmetry theory, and within which cosmologists tell us new universes may be born and other yet-uncertain events may happen. In transcension, advanced intelligence moves out of our restrictive spacetime, multi-locally, once it reaches a certain point in its development. The developmental singularity hypothesis is one of several possible versions of the transcension scenario, but it need not be proven correct for constrained transcension to remain the destiny of local intelligence.
Cosmologist Lee Smolin, first in a 1992 paper ("Did the Universe Evolve?" Classical and Quantum Gravity 9, 173-191) and later in his 1997 book (The Life of the Cosmos) has presented early quantitative evidence that universes may perpetuate themselves via "bounces" at black holes to create new universes. This process of "cosmological natural selection", if it exists (or more accurately, developmental "self-selection" a distinction best elucidated in another discourse), would explain, by a mechanism of cyclic "self-tuning" through a succession of prior universes, many of the apparently carefully selected "anthropic parameters" of our present universe. That is fascinating, but Smolin stops short of suggesting a role for intelligence in this line of universal descent.
The developmental singularity hypothesis, taking up where Smolin leaves off, proposes that all local intelligence tends toward ever-greater matter-, energy-, space-, and time-compressed ("MEST-compressed") computational substrates, ultimately ending in something analogous to a black hole, something with both universe-simulating and universe-recreating capacity. All of our universe's black holes might therefore exist on a continuum of replicative complexity, ranging from quasar to galactic-core to stellar black holes, and each would be expected to create stable lineages of much simpler (and lifeless) universes within the multiverse, right on up to the "intelligent black holes" that must also exist in our universe, transcension remnants of universal civilizations, each going on to develop even more complex intelligence-filled universes in the next timeline.
Transcension is a suspiciously elegant solution to the problem of the Fermi Paradox. As Timothy Ferris (The Mind's Sky, 1992) points out, any single emergent intelligent civilization, if it wished, could colonize the Milky Way with a "galactic internet" of self-replicating robot probes in only tens of thousands to tens of millions of years. Even our nearest neighboring galaxy, Andromeda, is only two million light years away, a small hop by comparison to the three to five billion year developmental lead time that some civilizations must have had over us in our local galactic neighborhood.

What is time? Is it an ever-rolling stream that bears all our dreams away, as the old hymn says? Or is it a railroad track? Maybe it has loops and branches, so you can keep going forward and yet return to an earlier station on the line.
The nineteenth-century author Charles Lamb wrote: "Nothing puzzles me like time and space. And yet nothing troubles me less than time and space, because I never think of them." Most of us don't worry about time and space most of the time, whatever that may be; but we all do wonder sometimes what time is, how it began, and where it is leading us.
Any sound scientific theory, whether of time or of any other concept, should in my opinion be based on the most workable philosophy of science: the positivist approach put forward by Karl Popper and others. According to this way of thinking, a scientific theory is a mathematical model that describes and codifies the observations we make. A good theory will describe a large range of phenomena on the basis of a few simple postulates and will make definite predictions that can be tested. If the predictions agree with the observations, the theory survives that test, though it can never be proved to be correct.
On the other hand, if the observations disagree with the predictions, one has to discard or modify the theory. (At least, that is what is supposed to happen. In practice, people often question the accuracy of the observations and the reliability and moral character of those making the observations.) If one takes the positivist position, as I do, one cannot say what time actually is. All one can do is describe what has been found to be a very good mathematical model for time and say what predictions it makes.
Isaac Newton gave us the first mathematical model for time and space in his PRINCIPIA MATHEMATICA, published in 1687. Newton occupied the Lucasian chair at Cambridge that I now hold, though it wasn't electrically operated in his time. In Newton's model, time and space were a background in which events took place but which weren't affected by them. Time was separate from space and was considered to be a single line, or railroad track, that was infinite in both directions. Time itself was considered eternal, in the sense that it had existed, and would exist, forever.

I heard that some plants drop burs to cling to animal fur, to spread the seed. I always wondered how the plant would know to evolve to do that, without seeing or thinking. How would it know that if it drops SPIKY seed that it will spread further, that it will sprout new plants in no way connected to the original, miles away?

How can something without vocal apparatus scream? This notion is popularized in the book "The Secret Life of Plants", by Tompkins and Bird, 1972. The book describes "experiments" in which plants are claimed to respond to injury and even to the thoughts and emotions of nearby humans. The Responses consist of changes in the electrical conductivity of their leaves. The truth is, however, that nothing but a dismal failure has resulted from attempts to replicate these experiments.
But what about plant responses to insect invasion? Does this suggest that plants "feel" pain? No published book or paper in a scientific journal has been cited as indeed making this claim that "plants feel pain". There is interesting data suggesting that plants react to local tissue damage and even emit signaling molecules serving to stimulate chemical defenses of nearby plants. But how is this relevant to the claim that plants feel and suffer from pain? Where are the replicated experiments and peer-reviewed citations for this putative fact? There are none.
Let us, for the sake of argument, consider the form of logic employed by the plant-pain promoters:
premise 1: Plants are responsive to "sense" impressions.
premise 2: As defined in the dictionary, anything responsive to sense impressions is sentient.
conclusion 1: Plants are sentient.
premise 3: Sentient beings are conscious of sense impressions.
conclusion 2: Plants are conscious of sense impressions.
premise 4: To be conscious of a noxious stimuli is unpleasant.
conclusion 3: Noxious stimuli to plants are unpleasant, i.e., painful.
There is a major logical sleight-of-hand here. The meaning of the term "sentient" changes between premise 2 ("responsive to sense impressions") and premise 3 ("conscious of sense impressions"). Thus, equivocation on the usage of "sentient" is used to bootleg the false conclusion 3.
There is also an equivocation on the meaning of "painful" ("unpleasant" versus the commonly understood meaning).
