Its strange how memory works. The strangest things can trigger a repressed or hidden memory. Once its triggered, at least for me, the memory rushes forward in an instant, overloading my cortex with such a vivid recollection that the experience is stunning.
In reading about Mrs. Debra LaFave (See Link Above), suddenly an entire chapter of my high school life came crashing back in one moment: My Sophomore Chemistry teacher attempted to hook up with me.
In 1996, I was 16 and a sophomore in High School. I suppose I was good looking for my age. I had my fair share of High School romance. I was also enrolled in Mrs. Sharp's Chemistry class. Mrs. Sharp was one of those teachers everyone liked. Her class wasn't hard, she always had fun science experiments, and she was an active member of many school organizations (Cheerleaders, Student Council, Drama, etc.). Another thing to note is that Mrs. Sharp was real pretty for a woman in her mid 30s.
It was apparent from the beginning that Mrs. Sharp enjoyed flirting with the boys in her classes, and I was no exception. Because I am a charmer by nature, I embraced and returned the attention she gave me without a second thought. Shortly after winter break, after months of unconscious flirting, I fucked up and knocked over an entire rack of beakers. Her rule was, "If you break something, you have to work it off." Several people had broken beakers or pipettes in the past, but none with such a significant monetary loss.
In order to work off the debt, I was to wash beakers and lab equipment after school for about 30 minutes every day. I did not see Mrs. Sharp in the lab until the fourth day of said activity. She was grading papers or something like that in her office. I finished washing all the beakers for the day, and I walked into her office to tell her that I was done and to have a good night. However, she offered me a coke and asked me to stay for a minute to sit and talk. I complied, and she began to question me.
"Stach, what do you think about my class? Is it fun?"
"Yeah, I like it. Science is fun."
"What about me, do you like me? Am I a good teacher?"
"Mrs. Sharp, everyone thinks you are a good teacher. I enjoy your class a lot more than my others."
She stood up at this point and moved around behind me and put her hands on my shoulders.
"Stach, I think you are a really good student. Not many students offer me the opportunity to respect them, and look upon them as men."
At this point, she began lightly massaging my shoulders. My curiosity and imagination immediately began going crazy.
"Mrs. Sharp, it makes no sense to me to raise hell all through high school just for a few laughs from my friends." (Bullshit. I just haven't raised hell in her class yet.)
"See that's what I'm talking about. You are truly a pleasure in my class... Is there any way I can show you my appreciation?"
She moved her hands to my chest and began a stroking motion from my shoulders to my chest. My mind flooded with questions. What the fuck is this lady doing? If I fuck her, what can happen to me? What if her husband finds out? WHAT IF HER KIDS FIND OUT? What if my friends find out-wait, that might be cool. She then leaned in and smelled my hair. I then realized the reality of the situation, and the wrongness of it all, and the fact that she was like 36 and probably had a rusty snake trap (I now know different about older women, but give me a break, I was 16).
I stood up out from under her, "Mrs. Sharp, perhaps it would be better if you just gave me a free test grade. That would certainly show me that you care."
I don't know if she took it as a threat, or a consolation, but she suddenly looked defeated, and then mortified. I suppose the reality of the situation finally set in for her as well. We said our goodbyes and for the rest of the year we went on as usual.
Looking back, I now realize that the one thing that kept me from fucking my teacher was the fact that she was only a slightly good-looking middle-aged woman. If she had been as hot as Debra LeFave, I would have fucked her till her ass fell out.
In closing, a floor standing rack of Pyrex beakers can cost as much as $900 to replace.
