Just a few days ago, I was flipping through the movie channels when suddenly I came across the beginning to an old classic.
Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory.
The movie, based on the book "Charlie And The Chocolate Factory" by Roald Dahl, was something I used to watch all the time when I was much younger. But I wasn't able to completely grasp the awesomeness of the film until recently.
OVERVIEW: Charlie, a poor young boy, is one of five lucky people who wins the chance to visit Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. Out of the five, only one will win a lifetime supply of chocolate.
As old as the movie is, I still love it. Gene Wilder was excellent as the eccentric candyman, and I found the boat scene to be the most comical scenes in the entire film. God, I definately need to smoke up and then try and watch that part. It'll scare the shit out of me.
The only problems I had with the movie was Charlie (Peter Ostrum), and some of the choreography of the Oompa Loompas. I found Charlie's voice to be quite annoying, and there were moments where he would put on a face that made him look mildly retarded. And when the Oompa Loompas danced, they didn't look like they were a dancing race. It was like they were all just a bunch of midgets doing half-assed cartwheels, and crappy somersaults.
Now, if they had all started breakdancing and busted out with some backflips and headspins, I would have been thoroughly impressed, because come on. How many midgets can breakdance? But still, the Oompa Loompas ruled, so I let the crappy dancing slide.
All that aside, I thought the movie was wonderful, and deserves no less than a +2 in my book.
On a side-note, I have a feeling the 2005 Willy Wonka will never measure up to this version. Not even Johnny Depp's badass acting would make the upcoming remake better than the original. The classics never die, my friends.
The Maio-Movie-Meter says:
PLOT: 10/10
EFFECTS: 8/10
HUMOR: 8/10
OOMPA LOOMPA BONUS: +5
OVERALL: An Astounding 11/10!
Watch it for old time's sake.
(Is it just me, or does Veruca look like she can suck a mean one? Just a thought.)

She was already the hostess on a TV show before she was born. How killer is that?

Hahaha awesome..
I've heard they're going to be more faithful to the book this time.. I'd guess that means no singing.. but I only read the glass elevator so I dunno...

All of the 5 are supposed to get the lifetime supply of choclate. What's not revieled until the end is that only one of them will become Wonka's sole heir and take over the choclate factory.

Oompa Loompa doompedy do......is all that pops in my head.
good movie but the remake will only possibly measure up if Johnny Depp sings in it.

This movie was great. Then I went to daycare way back when, and we had movie time in the afternoons. Unfortunately this was the only movie we had. This movie gets real old after you see it everyday for 3 weeks straight. I can't watch it any more.

There is no reason to remake this movie. Any attempt to do
so would be retarded. This is the best movie EVAR!!!

Johnny Depp is indeed awesome, but will never suplant the awesomeness that is Gene Wilder. And they'll probably get Sheau Lebauefuaeoifhea (Even Stevens kid) to be Charlie. Or some little cocksmoker.
Hell, he'll be just like the original charlie.
