Currently, as it is the summer, and I am out of college for the moment, I have gone back to my age old job of helping out on a farm for one of my father's old friends. I challenge any sane person to tell me that they have a worse job. My general duties consist of the challenge of cleaning out 2 huge barns that are about 170 yards long, 2 floors each, that hold chickens in them...for 6 weeks. Suffice to say, the....excrement...of the birds gets to be almost 5 inches deep. And, as it is the summer, smells kind of like.....a couple thousands pounds of chicken shit. Who would have figured. What I do, along with the senile old man I for some reason call "boss", is clear out the ENTIRE thing....in 4 days. The barn is smelly...has a low roof, almost zero ventilation, and is very very hot. Oh yeah, I almost forgot....before this starts at all, we have to clear out the barn of dead chickens...which happens to be in the hundreds lately because of a virus going around and killing them. Anyways, I put in about 12 hour days....for just about no money ($5/hour). This, coupled with the fact that I have always been somewhat of a nerd, and that I have to actually SHOVEL most of it out.....makes this one of the worst nightmares I have ever had....and I live it almost every day. I challenge anyone to send me a description of a worse job.
Man I hate my life.
