Sorry chicagogirl, but we spent a long time in the restuarant. Getting drunk. You should have joined us for the meal. I promise to make it up to you at Ubercon 23 when I'll be back in the states celebrating my 50th birthday. So put that date in your diary :o)

Beer_Bong, we were originally going to start in Vancouver and then travel down the west coast, but found cheaper flights to Toronto, otherwise I would have liked to visit Seattle...maybe next time! If I go anywhere else exciting I'll send you another postcard :0)
Thanks for the advice Belle, apparently there is a good Cheesecake factory in Chicago, located in the John Hancock building. My other half is mad on cheesecake so we may have to schedule a visit.
One week to go and it can't come quick enough...

That's a pity Andy but if you ever come to England I live only 40 mins from London, so I will hopefully meet you one day.
Yes it's my second trip to the states. The first was in Feb 2002, we went to New York, Washington D.C. and Maryland...unfortunately this was before I'd joined Uber.
Can you do me a favour and email me Bart's I.M. I'm going to have to stalk him until he agrees to meet for a beer.

Cheers!

i was just looking at plane tickets, and it looks like i won't be able to make it, sadly. that sucks, because i really wanted to meet you and your man.
for some reason it is less expensive to go to Cleveland, which is farther. ironically, the flight to Cleveland has a layover in Chicago. these crazy airlines....
anyway, i hope you have fun in the states. is this your second trip over here? i'm hoping to make a trip to your side of the Atlantic sometime. i'll let the UberBrits know if i do so maybe some of you can show me around.

Andy, if you CAN swing it, that would be fucking great.
The 4th and 5th Aug are a Weds and Thurs. It's a pity we won't be in Chicago over the weekend but we're going to be sat on a train (Californian Zephyr) from Friday to Sunday.

Fetish - Your lists are hilarious, and I love that people find them offensive.
But I won't mind if I'm not #1 next time. I don't post often enough anymore for that honour.
How about a new list called men you would knock the shit out of?
Fight!
---
But, you'll always be #1...
I haven't made any lists of who I'd knock the shot out of but I did make these:
"Tom Needs A Swift Kick In The Face" I even tricked Bart into saying it was his favorite post: http://www.ubersite.com/m/35297#644960
Here's a Bargled hate post (NSFW because I mooned him) http://www.ubersite.com/m/38590
I've got a Malone hatepost somewhere, but I ceased hating Malone.

Thanks so much for your ideas Godchicken - I would like to go to Yosemite national park but we hadn't made that part of our plan...we're not due to pick up our hire car until the day we leave San Fracisco but maybe we should pay for an extra day's hire so that we can go there.
I read that park rangers say the park is threatened from people "loving it to death"...so I'd better not Godzuki stomp all over it. I'll try hard to play nice with the bears :o)

PAS: Also for San Francisco I reccommend Ghirardelli's Chocolates, the Boudin sourdough bread factory, and a nice hiking / walk in the Marin Headlands up to the north past the golden gate bridge, which is nice too.
If you want to go a little further afield, drive a couple hours east and go to Yosemite national park from San Francisco.. or go just a little further north of the headlands to Muir woods. (yes, John Muir, the naturalist)

PAS: Damn it, I'm due to arrive back in san diego sometime in the 1st week of september. I'll miss you.
www.signonsandiego.com is the local newspaper website and has a lot for the "nightlife" sort of thing on it.
Places to go: the Zoo, of course.
The Star of India (sailing ship moored in the bay right downtown)
-possible harbour dinner cruise down there.
The USS Midway. WW II aircraft carrier being restored for museum. check to see if open.
La Jolla beaches/cliffs.
Balboa Park & restaurants / mueseums. This is one of the most beautiful areas of San Diego.
Gaslamp District of downtown. Lots of bar & grill sort of places.
and of course, you must try: http://www.arrogantbastard.com/ Arrogant Bastard Ale, made right there in San Diego.
The timeframe says you will be in time to enjoy a bit of sun on the beaches as well. Too bad you will be gone before I return home.

I wish it were true, but it's not. The American people have forgotten 9/11, just forgotten it. They're hemming and hawing. They don't have the balls to keep fighting, they have 401k's to worry about. "Well, maybe we should be in Iraaaaaaaaq, and there's no linkage...." I got your linkage swingin'. I guess it's going to take another terrorist murder spree before we wake up again, however briefly. I only hope that Michael Moore is caught in the blast.
