Ice cream, ice cream you are so good
whether you have chocolate chips or nuts, or both
I love the way you melt in my mouth.
I love the way you make my fingers sticky.
I can swirl you around and make you mushy.
I can put you on a cone.
But you are so cold and forbidding.
I try to love you, yes I do.
I try stick my most vulnerable parts in your softness
but when I do you melt from my body heat.
Is it rejection or mere physics?
I don't know because you won't tell me.
You don't talk to me at all.
So, dear ice cream, as I lick you off my spoon.
You will be gone soon.
But never forgotten.
