Yesterday I turned twenty four. It was a very happy birthday indeed. I had three seperate celebrations, got to make three wishes, spent fun times with friends and family and just had a really good time overall. It was one of the best birthdays I have had in a while. I really needed a good birthday because I was dreading having a birthday completely sober and I was also missing my ex boyfriend.
I spent Monday at the Jersey Shore with my two sisters, niece, nephew and my friend Rob. We had so much fun jumping in the waves and being all around silly at the beach. Everytime someone came by to ask if we had beach tags, we would make up some crazy lie like, "Our mom has them and she is coming down," or "Our friends just left with them, sorry." But why the hell should we pay $5 for a stupid little pin thingie if we are only there about five hours. Stupid and pointless, beaches should be free.
After the time at the beach Rob and I took my six year old niece out to Old Country Buffet. That was fun to, just eating as much as we possibly could, seeing my niece drop ice cream all over the floor and our food fight with corn. It was a great dinner. When we dropped her off back at my sister's house about ten people jumped out and shouted "SUPRISE" It was my sister, her boyfriend, my brother and a whole bunch of people I used to hang out with down there. It was so awesome, yet I was so embarrassed. Instead of cake, we had steak and Jersey Corn on the Cob. Instead of the radio or a DJ, we had a bunch of little kids singing songs to us. It was really cool and I had so much fun with everyone. I also played my demo CD for everyone one there...(Rob snuck the CD and popped it in the player without me even knowing.) Then our friend Tiffany asked, "Who is this singing?" I wanted to run in a corner and hide. However, to my suprise everyone really loved it, especially my six year old niece who came into the bathroom while I was peeing to tell me, "You are sure good at that singing and music stuff." It felt really good to have her say that to me. Then on the ride back to drop my brother off I played it for him and my biological mom. They were shocked. They wanted to steal the CD. When my bio mom got out of the car she said, "You are really good at singing and playing the piano." I just gave her a big hug.
However the coolest part of my birthday was the ride back to Philly. I made Rob drive so I could just relax, sit back and be the DJ on the ride home. I thought about how my life has changed since I have been in recovery and all the new things I have done. It was cool to have a random little suprise party given by my biological family and friends. It was really cool how everyone respected me not wanting to drink. Everyone was so supportive. And they loved my music, something I was always afraid to share with people.
When we got back to Philly I went into Rob's house to watch TV for awhile. I turned to him and said, "I just realized something. Tonight I did something that I always promised myself I would do ever since I was young. I always wanted my biological mother to hear the music I wrote and tonight I actually did that." It felt really really good. It felt like I had hit the lottery. I had kept the promise that I had made and acted on it. It was something that I thought I would never get to do, because I thought that I would never get to meet my biological mother. But I did it and it was the best birthday present ever.

What shore did you go to? I am going to Ocean City from August 1-6. I can't wait to get away from everything. Too much stressful shit everywhere lately.
We went for a few days like a month ago, but I didn't get to take Dro on the beach. I can't wait to see his little face when he gets to play in the sand.
