Well people, it was shit while it lasted and soon it will be gone. Webhosting and bandwidth has reached the ungodly sum of $80 a month and I just cannot keep it up. I tried UberBoard but it was an absolute failure. I tried making the website look more popular so that perhaps a pop-up company would consider ubersite for advertising, but even then I failed. I lied to you when I said I didn't want banners and pop-ups on the site, the truth is they didn't want my site.
So before the site goes offline on the 31st of this month, I thought I may as well be truthful with you all.
First of all, the hit per post treachery. Automatically I modified the hit counter to double my hits per post. Each new post I put up automatically says it received twice as many hits as it actually did, and 50% of every time it updates it will add 1 to the count, so it isn't obviously I was merely doubling my hit count. Also, select users I didn't want anywhere near the MVA, I cut their hits on new posts by half. Therefore they only recieved half the hits they actually deserved.
Second of all, I normally only ever put posts on B@W by users who gave me at least 5 +2's on my posts. I have a list of users in a notepad document who will never get posts on B@W. I also put my own posts on B@W a lot even though I know they are not very good.
Ubercon will still be held but I won't be attending. I hated those things anyway.
So I am fucking off for now, you people can stay on the proverbial sinking ship that is uber, or you can go sign up for somethingawful's forums for only $10 and get a glimpse of what a real forum looks like.
