Mankind, at least the prevalent culture of mankind today (the US, Europe, Canada, most of Asia (to the new age folks anyway) and all the other half-influential countries around the world...) has gotten far too full of itself.

I blame much of this on the idea of the Middle Ages. It teaches us (at least with the fantastic American public school system) that mankind was moving along great, then a great plague was swept down upon the world (Eurocentric view, I know, but that's what we were taught) and we emerged from the darkness into a new age of development, the renaissance, industrial revolution, and of course the Information age or whatever it is we're in today. So we think we're big shit cause we can make 50 year old women look like their 20 and sew a face or two back on, hell maybe a couple penises if the guys have crazy butcher knife wielding wives(I wanted to have alliteration for this but the time that would have taken led me to laziness). Anyway, most of the people in the world today aren't viewing it in the right way, that we should continue to strive to make ourselves the best we can, we instead are selfish and arrogant. People would rather look at a pretty face, following the lives of celebrities as if it mattered at all, than deal with issues in the world and try to improve oneself or mankind.

Another big problem is the tradition fixation a lot of people seem to have. Now I know not a lot of people are strict about tradition in the popular meaning of the word, I'm talking about things we hold in high esteem just because they're old and have seemed to bear the test of time. How can we hold some practices above others from the same ancient culture? We love a lot of Rome, but we are abhorred by the idea of people fighting to the death in a pit, or fighting lions, etc. But it's ok if they just go until one of the guys gets knocked unconscious, and they're wearing big goofy ass gloves, and just wearing shorts. It'll also be one of the windows through which the outcast races of the time work their way into acceptance of the rest of society (the Irish in the early 1900's, Blacks in the late 1900's, I'm gonna guess Hispanics are coming through soon if we can find any big tough ones). Kind of got off topic, oh well, anyway, people today are far too fixated on the past. I'm not anti-archeology or paleontology or anthropology, but we need to invest more time into looking into the future. Everyone always compares to the past as if it was some golden age, the classic Greek Tales, Shakespeare, the early presidencies, the old west, and so on and so forth ad nauseum. Instead of spending time re-reading, analyzing, and revering these older works, we should be trying to put out the best works mankind has ever seen.

Another problem in the same vein is the "greedy corporate fatcats" who dribble out new advancements in technology slowly to make a few extra bucks. A car battery that would never have to be replaced was invented in the 70's, and last time I checked batteries today are still failing. And you just know that the speed in which computer technology is released for sale is a set rate determined by an economic equation. I mean come on, with the technology NASA is using, probably stuff originally developed sometime in the late 80's/early 90's, it is so obvious that there is a gap between when this stuff is created and when it's released to the public. If we as a species had the power possible with advanced computer technology, advanced medicine(most doctors will opt for the most expensive way so they can pay off their astronomical student loans for med school), advanced energy sources, etc, we could probably unite the entire world of man together and end world hunger, educate the masses, all those other good things that should be the goals of mankind for every member of it.

If we want to fix ourselves one of the first places we should go take a look is the system of governments, none of them are all that good. Communism and socialism suck ass because they actually act as if all people are equal and deserve the same, democracy obviously sucks because in under 200 years we ended up with nothing but small-minded, short-sighted spoiled brats that don't know their ass from a hole in the ground. Theocracy and monarchy's are bad for reasons that should definitely be obvious, but I'll spell it out anyway. The power that comes with saying your decrees or your lineage come directly from God will corrupt any human being within five years. A big problem with our society today is the hierarchal system that pervades every aspect of it. From High School to money to material possessions there's always a cool elite group everyone wishes they could be in, or are at least told they should. Exclusion is taught as the privilege of the best of humanity. Not something we should be shaping the next generation of mankind to believe.

So that's my philosophical rant while stoned, at the time I started all of these ideas seemed great, but I'm sure if I read them again in a couple hours I'll kick myself retarded for posting this drivel on the internet. I'll kick especially hard for being so pretentious as to say ad nauseum, I mean what the fuck is that?

And here are a couple funny pictures I found when I googled "ad nauseum".

I forgot to mention that this came to me while reading Jonathan Swift's "Tale of a Tub." I got about halfway through the introduction before I sat down at the computer and wrote this.

every morning.
