"Spoken for" is the phrase you used about you and I. Funny how that made me think you were mine. But you just couldn't let her go, even after all the pain and anger between the two of you. Even after everything she put you through, and everything you put her through.
She holds something too precious for you to ever really walk away, as much as you want to. And you do want to, I can see it when you look at me. I can hear it in your laughter when I scrunch up my face at you, to dispel the tension this has caused. Does she make you laugh like that?
I understand why you have to go. I can even appreciate that you think you are doing the right thing. I am skeptical that this is the right thing, even after your rationalizations and reasoning. But I cannot change your mind, nor would I try. There's something bigger at stake here than just the future of you and I.
I can see that you want to stay, that you wish things could be different. I can tell by the way that you hold me just a few seconds longer than you should. Do you hold her that way? I wonder about your life with her, how it will turn out, if it will end up being worth it. I wonder if it will hinder or help the goal you are trying to reach.
