Well the gig went down, and it was awesome! It was wall to wall people.
I did end up playing the main room.
The main room doesn't open 'til 10pm but the front bar area got so packed that the owner asked me if I would start the main floor up at 9:30 to relieve the congestion.
The party went from 75 to 100 mile/hour in about 30 minutes.
Beautiful people everywhere, a lot of regulars, and ugly dorky ones that never come but came to try to get a good show. They got one.
I played for 3 1/2 hours straight and it felt like it only took an hour.
I hand a packed floor over to the next DJ, DJ Tree, at 1am.
He couldn't have been set up better by anyone.
He could have come out of the hole playing "Kiss Me Where It Stinks" and looked good.
For the rest of the night I moved between running the light board and making the rounds of the club.
At about 2am the "Playboy DJ Extreme Team" came into the booth to "Spin". That was a joke.
It consisted of two playboy models trying to scratch on the turntables completely out of sync with the music. It was sad and anoying. They had very obviously never DJ'ed ever.
They were no DJ's at all. It was just for footage for E!. It was cool though. It was late, people were still partying hard and no one gave a shit.
The next night was Saturday. Saturdays are ALWAYS huge at Senses. We had about the same turn out as Friday and it was just a regular Saturday with no special guests.
It ended up being a record breaking weekend. The highest grossing weekend since the club openned.
The next week I got a call from Mark. He's the DJ I filled in for. He told me that Tree got fired on Sunday, and that the owners wanted me to take his spot.
I don't think it had anything to do with me though. They had been having problems wth him for months. I hate that he got fired 'cause I liked him and I liked his show, but I wasn't about to turn down the offer.
Sorry Tree, love ya man, but I couldn't turn down the offer.
I quadrupled my pay and have 4 shifts a week.
Did I mention that I love my job?

I did! Could have made it more entertaining, I guess, but I just wanted to get it done!
Married life's fun :) We've been running and cycling lots. Started spin classes at the gym. We're both training for triathlons. We're freaks, I guess.
And we've discovered that my big cat, Mischief loves to be spun to near sickness on our office chair. We try to take him off it, but he jumps right back on.
I got a job, too. I start Aug 9th. Nothing special. An officey human resources/payroll gig for a nursing home. I need to help pay off big debts!

Yeah the camera man seemed to be avoiding most of the pretty girls that night.
If you go to the club's website and look at the galleries on some of the other nights you'll see some prettier people.

YAAAAAAY!! Whoohoo!! I can't wait to see it. Bet it makes me homesick. I saw a blurb on the Midtown Huey's on the Food Channel the other day, and made me kinda sad :(
Is Zoe still a "cage" dancer, or whatever, there? Just before I moved from Memphis she told me she was going to dance at Senses.
