If I have to listen to one more Canadian loudmouth expressing his more balanced world-view or his superiority over Americans while bashing Americans or his understanding of the truth about lying American warmongers or the fact that Americans are stupid or fat or criminals, my head is gonna explode.

What utter horseshit.

I've been to Canada. I spent most of my youth there. I go back every year. And guess what, Canada isn't all that hot.

I've seen fat Canadians and stupid Canadians and racist Canadians. I've seen hard-working Canadians with decades of experience passed over for good jobs simply because they did not speak French, and training wasn't an option as quotas had to be filled. I've seen your elected officials lie and scam and bullshit to hang onto their jobs and then renege on their promises to cover their own asses and serve their own financial interests. I've seen the crime rates in every major Canadian city get uglier and uglier. I've seen a startling growth in anti-Semitism that sends the 'fair-minded Canadian' image right down the shitter. I've seen Canadian politicians desperately trying to enforce Canadian content in entertainment when the average Canadian just wants to forget a long day at the office by enjoying the latest Hollywood blockbuster or watching some mindless crap dished up by FOX. I've seen a once proud Canadian military machine stripped to the bone and left globally humiliated. I've seen the 'superior' Canadian healthcare system suffer more and more cutbacks every year, even among senior citizens. I've seen retirees watch their pensions dwindle by Parliamentary decree while senators and MP's feather their nests with increased benefits. I've seen the country struggle year after year with separatists, good old Quebec, and now louder than ever, Alberta.

If you want to move down to the USA, get citizenship, and then cast a vote, you will have earned the right to dictate how we should be doing things. Until then, shut the hell up. We don't comment on your elections (and hey, look how the last one turned out, everyone is really happy, huh?), so don't comment on ours.

As for what is happening in America right now?

John Kerry is turning out to be a bigger liar than Bush ever was. A good example of this is his service in Vietnam. There is strong evidence that one of his purple hearts came from a self-inflicted wound, and the others were minor injuries that any other man would have shrugged off. There is also evidence that he was a piss-poor officer, unable to make sound command decisions and unwilling to support his 'band of brother' when they most needed it. Anyone who thinks Kerry will stop the war in Iraq and pull out the troops once he is elected is living in a dream world. Things are improving all the time in Iraq. Kerry will step in and just go with the flow. Oh, and seeing as how Kerry is married to a billionaire who owns a huge corporation that has mastered the art of outsourcing, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for him to ramp up the taxes on big business and magically create millions of new jobs.

Critics are saying that the current terror alerts are just one more election ploy by Bush, accusing him of using intelligence that may be four or five years old to maintain his grip on the American public. Those same critics say that Bush did not do enough with the much less specific intelligence available in the years and months leading up to 9/11. Are they foolish enough to think that these plans for attacks against America can be conceived and put into practice in a week or two? Unfortunately for us, al Qaeda has among its ranks some absolutely brilliant and fearless strategists, who know the benefits of long periods of careful study before attacking a target.

Did we go to war with Iraq for the right reasons? Anyone looking at Iraq now and seeing what is happening will realize that arguing the hows and whys is pointless, but for all of you who insist that George Bush lied (and there is one hell of a big difference between lying and acting on faulty intelligence from American and international sources), keep in mind that we still have not found every weapon and delivery system in Iraq, we still have not unearthed all of the potential ties between al Qaeda and Iraq, and finally, Saddam was actively working on a nuclear weapons program at the time of the initial American strike, and he was also trying to buy nuclear missiles and launching systems from North Korea. Two guesses who they would have been used on. (1) Israel? Correct. (2) The USA, either on American soil or against our soldiers or citizens overseas? Correct again. Should we still have just kicked back and let him do his own thing?

I get weekly emails from a kid serving in Iraq right now and believe me, most of what he reports is ignored by the liberal media. Yes, he has seen his buddies killed, and that makes him eager to kick some ass. But he has also seen Iraqis killing Iraqis, through IEDs, house-to-house attacks, car-bombs, and most recently, when he watched as an Iraqi rocket blew apart an old Iraqi women. He has also seen a lot of good things. He has seen the power come on in places that could not restore power until American engineers lent their expertise. He has seen American soldiers rebuilding hospitals and schools. He has helped distribute food. He has seen water supplies cleaned up and improved. He has had Iraqis shake his hand and hug him in thanks for his 'aggression' in their homeland. After cleaning up one part of the town he is stationed in, he even had a man give him his baby girl, asking that he just hold her for a moment. These are the average American soldiers and the average Iraqi citizens they are trying to help, and we hear so little of them. The people of Iraq will soon be able to vote. Iraqi women can stand in front of crowds and make speeches, having never before been able to fully express themselves. Iraqis are no longer being tortured and beheaded and raped and executed at the whim of Saddam and his sons, videotapes of which, shot by Saddam's soldiers at Saddam's request, are hot bootleg items in Iraq because people want to pass the word— Saddam is gone, and look at the world he ruled.

When foreign countries pull their forces out Iraq, the country may prosper under democracy, or it may fall apart. That's up to them, but at least they have been given the chance to experience rule through the voice of the people and not just one person's voice. And if the country does fall, and things start heating up again, and the UN stands on the sidelines and talks about useless sanctions, guess who will have to go back in and clean up the mess?

It's time to stop rushing to judgment and believing the biased and carefully edited works of so-called documentarians like Michael Moore. We need to take a look at where Iraq will be in ten or twenty years from now if, accounting for continued insurgent violence of course, things continue to improve as they have been.

Despite agreeing with a lot of the points you have made about the war with Iraq and the longterm benefits for the country after the war subsides, however, I absolutely do not agree with how you are so arrogant to bash other people. After reading all the comments that are associated with your article and your responses to them, you should really take the advice that you dish out. Take a moment to yourself and breathe. I realize that some people just don't have enough brains to be able to do that themselves, but you don't prove your point by saying do this but don't do that, when you are doing exactly what you tell them not to do. I think it is funny how you state that Canadians have a superiority complex over the United States, but honestly have you looked out your window... Have you seen what your country does on a daily basis. Regardless of what the factors were for your country invading Iraq, why is it up to your president to take it in your hands. Hmmm could it be because your president has other plans that he isn't telling his people about. Now you also go on to bash our health care system, and our educational system, but have you looked in your own backyard. How many people do you think need health care but can't get the help they really need because oh, that's right, their insurance doesn't cover it. At least up here everyone is covered and has access to medical facilities, regardless of how much money they have. As for our educational system, it is Just as good as the American educational system. As for comments from people stating that we are all brainwashed by CNN, you really need to open your eyes a bit, we do have other sources of media other then just CNN. You are a really great writer, with some very valid points. You should try to not go and make yourself sound arrogant as all hell to the point where it disregards your entire write up. Also, not everything you see on the internet is truth. Alberta isn't separating. They aren't even trying to separate. The website you provided, honestly how hard is it to put something like that together. It is just a few immature people who are angry with politicians for whatever reason and think that they can get back at them by trying to pull off what Quebec tried to do. Quebec did try to separate and is now sitting at a 63- 37% ratio where 63% want to stay a part of Canada and the rest want to separate. I am all for them doing what they think is best for their province, as long as they understand that by doing so they won't get the support from our country that they once had, nor will they get the funding to take care of their country. Either way, every country has its flaws, every country has its drawbacks, every single country has their slimey, corrupt politician's who only care about themselves rather then their country. I guess what I am trying to say is that No One Country is perfect. We all have issues that we need to work on to become better people in general. Perhaps instead of dissing each other's countries we could help each other more.

You can have your wars and false sense of pride and glory but in Canada we've got a few things you can only dream of.......

1)Good pot
1)strong beer

If i ever came down to it I for one belive the peoples of canada could drink ALL those from the United States under the table. Deal with it.
=============================

And you are bragging about THAT?

Can you accidentally shit your pants more than us? Walk into glass doors more than us? Burn yourselves on the stove more than us?

I guess this is why you are so proud of your rapidly disintegrating socialized healthcare system.

"Fuck my liver! I can get another one free without even earning it! Let somebody else pay for it and bring me another bottle of Blue!"

+2 for a lot of logical arguments. A lot of people tend to see people being killed and their brains automatically think killing=bad, and they never look past that to see that after the smoke clears, it will be a lot better. It's sad to see people who rate this post negatively just because they can't sit down for a minute and think the whole thing through in a logical way. And even if they don't agree, they could at least support their opinion like you did, rather than just give it a -2 and write "Fuck you". I would hope that most people would be more mature than that.

Are you so retarded that you actually believe the UN would let you invade Canada for natural resources?(1) What, would you tell them we have biological weapons manufacturing plants? You dont even have a dictator to oust as an excuse get oil. Lying to the world over and over to get what you want is one thing if it results in the dethroning of a dictator, but its quite another when its a country with worldwide respect. If you are so prepared to start world war 3 with YOUR superior attitudes, then try it.(2) Id post more but its lunch time. Cya (3)

(1) Since when have we ever given a shit about UN suggestions? Their Iraqi sanctions plan did nothing but line Saddam's pockets with more cash and allow him to install gold plumbing fixtures in his bathrooms.

(2) Might I suggest a few deep breaths?

(3) "Cya--" You were about to write 'cyanide' but stopped yourself, huh? Well too late, my little Canuck friend. It appears that there ARE biological weapons of mass distruction up there AFTER all. Call your friends and family now. You have approximately four minutes to duck and cover.

Im also an Alberta boy. Where did you come up with the idea that there is some sort of separatist movement in Alberta?(1)

I dont feel superior to Americans (although i hate those unholy buttfucks who seem to think we're all just wannabe Americans, they can all choke and die).(2)

Now about this whole "Canada needs the U.S. to survive" bullshit. Our exports to the United States are a boon financially, just like our exports to ANY other country in the whole world. Its called "Global Community". The fact that your population seems to waste more than any other country just means we export a higher percentage to you. Our country would be in dire straits without the jobs in said industries of export were they to close, that much is true. But how would the United States fare without the raw materials we export to you. Its a double edged sword my friend. You could get it elsewhere....but at 10x the shipping costs. How convenient that said resources lie a few hundred miles from your northern border.(3)

In any case, Canada rules. We dont need a standing army because our population is so badass.(4)

===================================

(1) What are you, 14, 15? Use the web for more than spouting idiocy and downloading donkey wank mpegs. http://www.separationalberta.com/

(2) I'm glad you don't feel superior to us. I'm glad you aren't suffering any delusions.

(3) If push came to shove we could sign trade agreements with other nations and leave you guys to sink or swim. At that point a whole lot of Canadians with usefull technical skills and desirable knowledge and experience would suddenly immigrate south, and we'd be happy to have them. The dumbasses with no skills could stay up there, that's okay with us. If things got really bad, we'd take it by force with little trouble since you guys have a standing army of what, 30 guys or so these days?

(4) Yes, you are terribly badass. I retract all my previous arguments.

I, personally, am quite proud to be a part of this great nation of Canada. To be welcome in any country in the world simply because i have a maple leaf somewhere on my person is a privelege few nations enjoy. I don't know a single Canadian who has ever said that we could prosper economically without the US. It is true that we basically have the resources we need, but we lack processing and production capabilities... we'd survive fine but it wouldn't be with such a high standard of living. The US needs what we have for materials, and we need what the have to offer in return.

Like I said before, we care about what is happening in the US because it has the ability to effect us on very deep levels. I like the way my life in North America works. I'm doing well, and have the freedom to say what I want, the ability to influence and sprout change. Its good to be opinionated sometimes.

But like you said... superiority. Where does that come from? You think we bash US policies? Try to remember how we treat and talk about our problems up here. Its just that things work so slowly that nothing ever gets done... so we have a lot of time to bitch. I guess we're good at it.

It's the false superiority that I don't get, and hell, it's widespread on the web. I'll be the first to admit that the USA needs fixing in a lot of places, and fast. But to hear complaint after complaint from up there when most of us are trying to do good... it gets tiring.

Your name should be Just_me_and_the_cats_and_bill_o_reilly

I have to go to class now, so I may respond to this later.

However, I'll leave you with this.

Canadians pay attention to American politics because we should. Even if it weren't forced down our throats every fucking day, we would. Why? Because what you do has a HUGE influence on what happens to us. Saying that Canadians don't know anything about American politics is as ignorant as saying there is a strong separatist movement in Alberta (or even Quebec anymore for that matter).

Next time open up your mind to what someone is saying before you go on he instant offense. Not every conversation is a debate, and you might learn something.

I thought about refs and bracketed notes and stuff, but jesus, this would have been way too long. Everything I mention is out there on the web, just keystrokes away.

I disagree with you on a lot of points, but I also agree with some of your points. That aside, it was pretty well written, could have used some references to back it up though. Solid +1.

Thanks for a rational argument Kool. I really enjoyed the give and take of ideas. Say, let's do it again sometime.
