It's official; Giants to be shut down, team disbanded

The Cincinnati Reds scored an incredible ten runs in one inning against the San Francisco Giants Thursday, prompting both the team's owner and manager to announce Friday morning that the end has come for the ball club.
Fans at SBC Park in San Francisco were stunned into silence as they watched the Reds run roughshod over their home field, prompting some to speculate that they were seeing the resurrection of the Big Red Machine.
"It's over," said president and managing general partner Peter Magowan. "I can't do this anymore."
Giants manager Felipe Alou echoed the sentiment. "We're throwing in the towel. We're all pretty tired off starting strong year after year and falling on our faces before we can make any headway, and that's if we even reach the series."
"I hope this is just, you know, rumors," said clearly unsettled rookie Merkin Valdez. "I don't want to lose my shot at doing good work for this team."
When asked to comment on these developments Barry Bonds replied, "I ain't never heard of Magowan. I don't know the dude. And this is California. Got a lot of Felipes. Which one we talking about?"
When asked what he would do with his days now that he was out of a job, Alou said, "I've got grandchildren. Believe me; I have a lot to keep me busy!"
"I've got a sailboat," Magowan said with a smile. "Maybe I can sail across the Pacific. To Tahiti or the Bahamas or the Canary Islands. Some place nice. Get away for a while."
No date has yet been set for the disbanding of the ball club, but only hours after the announcement most of the Giants have already received offers from teams in other cities.
