You know, I have nothing against ree-rees. They're generally happy little fucks, but honestly, they don't have any place in this world. They play no significant role in society, except to make us feel better about ourselves. They just don't have anything to contribute.
I was out to dinner with a friend tonight, and these two parents had their drooling, dribbling son with them.
Sure, he was happy as shit.
He even got up and started "flying" around the room, his arms raised out, making airplane noises with his mouth. I wish I had that sort of spontaneity.
But to tell you the truth, it's not fair to them. They don't know they're retarded, but they can't function like normal people, and eventually, when their parents die, (if they don't swallow a gallon of Draino first), they'll be on their own, with no one to take care of them.
Not that I'm an asshole (I am), but having a retarded child could honestly be the worst thing that could happen to a couple.
Imagine this.
You have a gorgeous wife. You have a great job, and everything's great. You couldn't wish for anything more in your life.
Except a child.
You manage to knock your wife up with your super sperm, and go to the doctor for a check up.
You decide that you want to know the gender of the child.
The doctor looks at the results, looks up at you, and with a disconcerted look on your face, pronounces:
"Congratulations. It's a retard"
So, what do you do now?
Do you keep the child, and love it and hug it and squeeze it until it's old enough to enter the Special Olympics, and make you oh, so proud, or do you hit up the nearest abortion clinic and pull that fucker out, head first?
You have to live the rest of your life, ashamed of your child, and wondering how the one retarded sperm could have beat out all the other millions for first place in your wife's egg.
It's like the Special Sperm Olympics, except everyone loses. Even the retard.
They have the technology to tell people before hand if their kid is going to come out with a sloped forehead and the strength of 10 mules.
I think the decision is clear.

Before the kid is a kid, before the kid has the remote chance of having any intelligence, awareness, thoughts whatsoever. It would be perfectly valid reason to abort a kid at such a stage just because you don't want one. The fact that your kid could become severly handicaped would be even better, because *hell* you would atleast have a reason. It's pretty easy to see when an embryo would become retarded: it has genetical and/or physical deficiences, you can't do an IQ test on one of course.

i don't agree with some of the reasons for aborting or with the way that he presented his reasoning, but also not to be spiteful or anything, I would abort just as well if i were put into that situation.
it's not fair for my child to live a life like that. It's true that I'll never know what quality of life s/he'd have after birth, but chances are, it's going to be difficult as hell.
You can bash him for being an asshole, but you shouldn't bash him for speaking the truth.
If each one of you actually had the information that your child was going to be severely malformed, barring you ultra-religious types, what would you do?

Buddy put yourself in the shoes of a mother,father, brother, sister or even the shoes of a mentally challanged kid or adult. We should not feel sorry for them, they are happy as you yourself said.
