Somehow, the term "Hurricane Warning" doesn't quite convey having your little Cuban shack turned into toothpicks and strewn across the Florida straight.
"People Don't take the term 'warning' seriously" Mike Oxbig, a National Weather Center spokesperson, is quoted as saying.
Because of this, The NWC has added a new degree to their hurricane warning system. Now, along with "Watch" and "Warning", there is "Fucked". If you are in the direct path of a storm when it s 6 hours or less off shore, and the storm is category 3 or above, you will be put into the "Fucked" category.
Punta Gorda, and Ft. Meyer Florida would have been in the "Fucked" category when Hurricane Charley hit.
"Maybe if we would have had the new system in place earlier, people wouldn't have tried to ride out a category four hurricane, with 155 mile per hour winds, in a trailer like retards after we told them to evacuate" Mike Oxbig Said.
The National Weather Center saw how inefficient it's system was when hurricane Charley hit south florida, and decided to go ahead with the new, updated system. Despite mandatory evacuations and warnings, and having seen the destruction caused by hurricane Andrew only 12 years ago, there are still 15 reported deaths from the west coast of Florida.
There is some opposition however, some people claim that Floridians won't catch on.
"We fucked up the 2000 elections, and now we're too stupid to get out of the way of a hurricane. Most Floridians are retarded, we re-elected Jeb Bush for Christ's sake. We get the Cuban immigrants who don't speak enough English to understand that there is a threat, and we get the New Yorkers and Canadians who haven't seen a real Hurricane. And there's the fucking old people. I fucking hate old people." I am quoted as saying right now as I type this out on my keyboard.
The National Weather Center believes that only time will tell if this new system will work or not.

Something tells me you don't live anywhere near Florida. If you did you would know that the people in Punta Gorda and Arcadia didn't know that the storm was going to hit them until roughly 2-3 hours beforehand. Originally, Charley was supposed to hit the Tampa Bay area, where I live. Our area was warned and evacuated about 36 hours beforehand. Now you do the math. 36 hours compared to 2-3 hours to evacuate. They didn't have enough time to even process what was coming their way let alone get out. And now there are 17 confirmed deaths and countless people homeless. Do your research before you decide to post a joking article about a tragedy.

George Bush surveyed the carnage and said, " Whoever this guy Charlie is, we'll get him."

The theme song for hurricane Charley should be "move bitch, get out the way, get out the way."
