Clawing at my window
Strays and homeless;
Disciples, like I'm Jesus.
I'm not anything like Jesus;
I live in a city
Taking stray cats home
To feed and keep in company...
But wait, I'm just like Jesus
Though I'll never be a martyr
Until I die, only I can't resurrect,
Walk among the dead.
Wish I could but life is unfair.
If anyone would care to comment
Now would be appropriate
Before I feed my disciples
To a homeless leper.
He has no teeth
But he can tear flesh!
Is he, perhaps, like Jesus?
Not until I martyr him
Thursday when the church bell rings
And I'll be his disciple.
I'll wear the label Judas
So he can be a martyr.
He never had a father
Of which he was ashamed
He might just be a homeless stray
But Jesus can be his name.
He partly smells of fish and bread
For certain his home must.
And just as much as Christ was kind,
My homeless Jesus smells of wine.
