Waltz of the Rodents
One moment here and then, gone!
The startled people turned and saw:
He sat on cushions of velvet
Surrounded by Roman rodent handmaids-
Laurels upon his head, and oils
Of lavender upon his fur
Made it glow like skin.
A Rat smile of Rat teeth, O glistening snout,
And lifting an imperial paw he squeaked
"Waltz to Time"....and he vanished!
Enter the ballroom, crystal and satin
Polished marble and glass
And nutcracker suite symphony's:
And the Rats were waltzing in rodent
Harmony, in flowing chiffon gowns
And reeking of cheese-
Asking politely, "Wish to waltz, please!"
O the Rats were enchanting, gliding on air
Swaying to the melody without a care;
With a dashing look from his beady eyes
The Big Cheese Lothario bows to Her,
Then with a flourish he ogles her thighs,
While busying his tongue grooming his fur:
With black tuxedos and patent leather spats
All dance to the waltz of the SugarPlum Rats!
