I've been pondering this for quite awhile now, personally I think suicide is completely un-selfish. Everyone should always have the right to die.
Angry User "But what about all this persons friends and family!??! Now they are miserable and traumatized as well, so this guy's being selfish and spreading his depression!"
But isn't it selfish of that person's family and friends to take away this suicidal person's right to die for their own happiness? Is a persons right to die a natural right?
I hope I get some feedback on this, it's kind of an interesting topic.

Grow some balls. If your depression is ruining friendships, dump your friends. They suck. Find the kind of people who DESERVE to be your friends, and work from there.

Yes, suicide is probably the most selfish thing you can do. It's a permanent solution to a temporary problem. I'm sorry, but most people that commit suicide do not have it that bad, they're just whiny little bitches. You don't see people in fucking 3rd world countries going around killing themselves. Suicide is only acceptable in very few cases, like if you're in extreme physical pain and there's no cure.

Many say people who are suicidal are not thinking rational. Well, if people who are suicidal are not rational, how can we hold them accountable for their actions or presume to know their intent?

You're confused between suicide and euthanasia. Thay arent the same thing. Perhaps you should goto school every once in awhile or, ya know, read a book or something?

At times I see suicide as the only answer to the inescapable pain and torment of life.
At times I see suicide as the most dispicable, cowardly cop-out ever committed.
At times I only see suicide as the answer to my pain and the pain I know I am creating around me.
At times I revile suicide in any way, shape or form because of the pain and misery it has added to my life and the lives of those I love.
At times I embrace suicide. At times I rebuke it. I often wonder where a soul goes if let free by it's own physical restraints.
At ALL times I feel that heaven is too far away.

Odd how something I heard on Faces of Death comes into play in this. "If you kill someone else, your just killing that person. If you kill yourself, your killing the entire world".
I think it's quite selfish. The fact that your killing yourself, isn't a factor. The fact that your killing any thing you might have done in the future, your killing your chance to have an impact on someone, your killing your role in society. Just because you think you got a "raw deal"... That's the height of selfishness.

Or better yet, instead of killing yourself because you feel 'sad', you could start taking anti-depressants. Now if you want to die because you're in physical pain or very sick and going to die anyway, fuck I'll put a round in the chamber myself.

What if you kill yourself because nobody likes you? I mean, it isn't really selfish then because ... nobody is oing to give a shit. In fact, some people might be happy. Or what if you killed yourself in an amusing way and videotaped it so you could put it on the internet for other people's enjoyment. I know I would want to see a person kill himself by running as fast as he could into a wall covered in metal spikes. that would be a kicker of all ass.

Tried to commit suicide before, and the most devestating effect was the pain i had caused others. THe pain was from all of the people who were mad i never turned to them. If i had turned to them and they weren't able to help, then it wouldn't be selfish, but leaving them feeling as if they meant so little to me hurt them alot

Although I agree with you, you did not convince me.
I personally thought of the suicide booth before I ever saw it on Futurama, but you have offered me no reason to be convinced of your argument, becuase, mainly, you didn't have one. You can do better. This is not a chat room.

It is quite possibly the most selfish thing anyone can do. If you deicde to kill yourself then you're thinking only of yourself and not of anyone else. Now if your talking about killing yourself because of some kind of terminal disease then thats a little different. But if its because your depressed, then get over it, takes drugs like the rest of the world.
