I love my cat. Lately she has been acting kind of weird. Sprinting around the house, eating her own fur, and lately, running into the door. Needless to say, this kind of stuff worries me just a bit. She isn't that old, only about 4, and is the cutest thing to ever exsist on this planet.
One of the things I love most about her is her total love of humans, and need for attention. I know (and cat owners can vouche for this) that most cats like to be pet and all, but she goes above and beyond. She will always be trying to crawl into my lap for a nap, or be jumping on my bed so she can sleep on my legs during the night. And, she does this almost stealthily, like she doesn't want me to notice she is right on top of me.
Up until recently, she had always been a very mellow cat. Except for the occasional mouse in our house, which she would play with for hours, she would mostly just sit around. But, whenever anyone would come into the room, she would roll onto her back with her paws kind of by her head, to demand the person come and pet her. It always worked. Cat owners will agree that often, it's like the cats own you. They are fed whenever it is convenient for them, relieve themselves wherever it pleases them, and act like they own all of the furniture. This cat was no different.
She is fat, all she does is sit inside all day, and stare out the window. Longing to be outside, among the birds, the squirrels, and all the other potential prey. Inside that mask of innocence, I know there lurks a lion. I love her as much as a member of my family, and treat her like one. It probably isn't good for her ego that I fawn over her and give her little treats and brush her hair and play with her constantly, but I just can't help myself, and I know you wouldn't be able to either.
Just in case cats can read (and I'm sure they are smart enough), I love you, Butterball.
