Today was the big day for all the juggalo's worldwide. Insane Clown Posse released their follow-up to 2002's, "The Wraith," which combined, makes it the 6th and final jokers card. First there was Carnival of Carnage, which has a pre-famed Kid Rock. Next they released a legendary and heavy favorite among ICP fans, The Ringmaster. After that, Jive records picked them up and released, "The Riddle Box." That was ICP's major label debut. After that Hollywood Records and Island released the album that made them huge across America, "The Great Milenko," which had guest appearances by Alice Cooper, Slash, and Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols fame. That album was a huge smash for ICP. Next, there was "The Amazing Jeckyl Brothers," which boasted guest appearances from Snoop Dogg, Ol' Dirty Bastard, and The Jerkey Boys. It also had a track with Ice-T but it never made the album. Finally, "The Wraith," came out and revealed the hidden message that is ICP. It was the upside and "Hell's Pit," is the downside. What is their hidden message you ask? Find out for yourself.
"Hell's Pit," is a dark album, even for ICP. It's concept is about the journey that Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope experience in Hell's Pit and it's message boils down to paying for what evil we have caused on Earth. The liner notes on the cd sleeve explain it like this:
"Cast into the bowels of the underworld, Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope must strive to survive the terrible torments, the unbelieveable horrors, and the devestating dementia that lie for them in Hell's Pit!"
ICP have mainly released concept albums (like VIolent J's solo album, "Wizard of the Hood, and all the other jokers cards) over their career. Each one with it's own, original flavor. This album is not unlike those in that aspect.
The highlights on this one are "Suicide Hotline," where J raps to an operator on a suicide hotline about how his life sucks and he should just die. At the end of the song, you hear a beep and it is a girl saying she wants to come over and kick it. He tells her to bring some blunts and his mood changes. He politely and calmly switches to the other line and tells the operator he's ok and hangs up. Then there is "C.P.K's," which stands for Crooked Preacher Killers. The song is talking about corrupt preachers and priests that meet their maker at the hands of the wicked clowns. After that, we get the light hearted, "Bowling Balls," which is a loving plea about heads. Come guys, he just wants your head for his collection. It would mean so much to him, according to the lyrics. Finally, we have "Real Underground, Baby," which is the final song on the album that plays out to 12 minutes and 36 seconds, using a medley of past ICP songs.
As far as horror rap goes, ICP wasn't the first but they are definitely the best. I know a bunch of fags are going to come in here and talk trash to me about my musical taste but it's all good. They were the ones scoping this forum for something so petty to talk trash about. I could give a fuck less what anybody's tastes in music are but apparently, some people are just that lame as to care what I do behind closed doors. Those are the same people that might have a bright future in politics. Anyway, if you are down with the clown, this cd is definitely worth it. ***** out of *****

...road dogs of mine. I watc the high quality version of that music video on my PC and think, "Damn...whatever happened to this kinda music you guys?" A song that had a memorable chorus, or a memorable build to a chorus, or theme throughout. Songs that had an overall message and attitude theme, not to mention eerie horror-movie like sounds and high pitched haunting music mixed in?
Sadly, that song and Suicidie Hotline, and maybe a few sparse sprinkling of one hit onders, ICP has plain out sucked after the year 2000, and I love ICP. 99% of new music today sucks anyways.
I love my Riddle Box and I really love Bizaar Bizzar, not to mention others, but when you skip tracks first thing, it blows. I only like one song off this CD and can't be bothered to listen to others!
As far as eminem, I don't mind the old "Without Me" ...but he has always had a higher crap frequency than ICP. ICP at least had the Wicked Mike E. Clark, who also left around this mysterious 2000ish downfall.
My thought: Dark Lotus/Forgotten Freshness 3 and backwords for ICP chronology.

When I was 14, my best friend and I listened to ICP all the time. Our favorite song, twisted little 8th graders that we were, was Cemetary Lady. I think that was off Riddle Box, but really can't be bothered to check.
Then I grew up and realized that horrorcore is a silly, silly branch of music that has about as much to recommend it as Britney Spears, and not nearly as cute of a tush. :-)

ICP has made me laugh. I have Great Malenko and Jekyll Brothers. I am not a big follower, their routine tends to get a little stale, so I probably won't buy their other albums.

Earlier Esham was, and still is, the shit. The newer stuff he's putting out is nowhere near the level of stuff he did for the first half of his career. From 90-98, his shit was the best out there.

If you like those acts then you will like The GraveDiggaz. I don't know if they are actually around anymore, but they brought out some kick ass albums. Gravediggaz features the great Hip Hop DJ Prince Paul, as well as the head of the Wu-Tang Clan, RZA. Their best album is Niggamortis, but you'll have to really look hard for that because it ended up having a song removed (which incidently was my favourite song on the album!) and renamed Six Feet Deep. Damn censorship!!!

I have never heard the gravediggaz. I will check them out but ICP will always have that title to me. They said in their autobiography that Ghetto Boyz and Esham the Unholy were big influences. I am not too big a fan of Esham or Ghetto Boyz but I do like all the psychopathic acts (twiztid, Blaze, ABK) and three 6 mafia. Also, some of the newer Vanilla Ice sways this way too and it's pretty cool.

I'm not really a fan of ICP, but this was a well written review. Shame on you however for saying that ICP are the best horror rap group (I think the term is actually "horrorcore"), that mantle clearly belongs to The Gravediggaz!
