A couple of years ago, I worked for a company called Stages Timeout. Stages ran several gaming arcades around New Zealand and one large one in downtown Auckland. I was employed in their Auckland establishment as a 'pool boy'. It was my job to clean and maintain the pool tables, clean the pool hall and generally make sure the place was clean and presentable to the customers (Mainly half-drunk teenagers who would spill shit on the tables, start fights and piss in the corners).
Around this time the Pokemon craze was in full swing. My boss (One of the owners of Stages) decided to cash in on the frenzy and stocked the arcade with all sorts of shitty merchandise. There were cards, soft toys, games - you name it. Hell, I'm sure he could have even got you some Pokemon Porn if you had wanted it.
My boss also wanted to run Pokemon card and GameBoy tournaments to make even more money. The first ones failed miserably due to the lack of entrants, so he decided that he needed to get fliers out to advertise the events.
This is where I come in.
By calling in favours with his contacts in the gaming industry, my boss managed to get his hands on a Pikachu suit.
Let me explain the monstrosity that was the Pikachu suit.
It had two parts - one was just a pair of yellow fur pants with Pikachu feet, they were held up with braces. The other consisted of the head, torso and arms. This second part sat on my head and shoulders and weighed a fucking tonne.
Being the lowest ranking, youngest and worst paid of the staff (And also the least likely to kick up a fuss) I was chosen to be Pikachu.
My first job was to don the suit and hand out fliers along Queen Street. This is one of the main streets in town and is a major commercial center - hence the reason it was chosen, that and the arcade was situated down near it's busier end.

This was taken at the Armageddon Pulp Culture Expo. My boss is in the background & the two teenage gimps were helping run our huge stand for the day. I, of course, am in the suit. As you can see the top of the suit seems rather mutilated (Where are it's ears??), this had occured from a incident that will be detailed more in the future installments.
