Granted, I'm no Uber expert or world-class writer, but I do know one thing very well. That is how to take criticism. Most of what I see on this site is all these little cunts running around waving their -2 sticks at each other until both have such low ratings, they're destroyed. Let me ask this...WHAT'S THE POINT?
I don't know the entire history behind Ubersite, but I'll tell you what I believe it to be form observation. It was started as a site for amateur writers to put their work online for others interested to review, critique, and make suggestions. That, to me, sounds like a wonderful idea. It's free, it's anonymous, and a young author can get some great input. Too much stuff on here is stupid crap that begs for +2s or -2s and nothing else. The rating system should be used to tell the person how their writing and subject matter is, not how much the rater hates them or what they believe.
Geez people, get your heads screwed on straight. If you're going to write on this site, be prepared to get -2ed sometimes. It's going to happen. In fact, I'll probably get some troll's -2 slapped on me for this post. Maybe that idiot will go so far as to -2 all of the rest of my posts too. Go ahead troll, I don't care. The purpose of this site to me is to critique my own writing, not be #1 1337 UberUSER11!!!oneone
I can sift through your -2 crap and see what the intelligent people on this site have to say about my posts. If my overall rating is -2, it doesn't matter because I will become a better writer for it. So F-off!

Yeah, I posted this in my early days of Uber. An ignorant new user I was. I still believe in most of what I posted, but I realize I should have just kept my mouth shut as it wouldn't do any good.

I love that picture! And this made an interesting read, I agree that there's quite a lot of plain pettiness and bitching going on around here, but as long as people have freedom of speach, I don't think there's much you can do. If some is worth criticizing, it is probably worth more than a -2. The truth is a lot of -2's awarded are just out of spite. If ten people have reviewed a post a +2, what cheaper thrill can you get than -2ing it?
