Your Question: Now, why would you post about nothing?
Good question.
My Answer: Why the fuck not? I mean, most of the shit posted here is crap anyway so why not join the masses in turning out drivel? Besides, Ubermadness is next week and I really need to check to make sure that my 'Submit' button still works (it's been a while, not that i turn out anything usefull anyway)
Today: I went to visit and have dinner with my father. It's been a couple weeks since we talked so i figured it was well past time for a visit. When I got into my car to drive out there i noticed that it was running a littlr rougher than yesterday. And by 'a little' I mean a lot.
4-cylinder toyata tracel of the 1993 variety. So, it was rough and as I soon found out underpowered. This lead me to believe that one of the cylinders wasn't firing at all.
Now, as a guy that knows very little about the internal combustion engine, meaning I've never done much more than change my own oil, I tried to think about what I should do in this situation. I don't really know what to do, I THINK it could be that one cylindar isn't firing, but do I want to venture out to my dad's place and pray it doesn't break.
So i pushed the car a bit, while still close to home, to see how it would take it. Seemed fine. Just rough and not it's regular power (or lack thereof). IF it is the one cylindar, it's either not getting fuel, air or spark.... So now I'm thinking about the spark plugs or the fuel injectors.
The rest of the car seems to be running quite well, so maybe it's just the one spark plug... that's my best guess. Anyway, I end up going to my dad's place, taking out the spark plugs and one of them was covered in oil and was wet while the other 3 were dry. All were corroded and looked like crap. Changed them out, worked fine.
For someone who doesn't work on cars and never has, it was a fine vicroty to get it right on my first guess. It's like I'm expected to know this stuff simply because I'm male, but it's nice to actually do something useful and save myself a lot of money and time getting someone else to look at it.
In the end, I win.
