Well, my work closed early yesterday at 3. Of course, it seemed like everyone else in Atlanta got out early too. When it rains, everyone drives 90 on I75 anyway, but since it was classified as a hurricane, everyone had to drive 40. Damn placebo effect.

I got home, and my wife was already there. She got off early too. Really, it was just raining up until about 6. We kept an eye on our front yard because we have a creek near the house, and it likes to overflow into our yard when it rains a lot. As time went on, the rain picked up and the wind was blowing like mad. Branches were falling, leaves were flying, and there were streams forming around the house.

Our house is surrounded by woods on three sides. Behind the house if you walk through the woods you'll come to this expansive area of granite. It's about 60 acres of a hill of granite. Very cool.

Anyway, the rain runs off the rock and into our yard or more into our creek usually. There's a gully on the opposite side of the house from the creek that water runs down too. When we looked out the window over there, it was overflowing like we'd never seen before.

Our yard flooded up about 6 ft. high in that it was overflowing the street. That's higher than we've ever seen it. Fortunately, the rain stopped shortly after that and the height of the water starting going down quickly.

My wife started begging me to go look around outside and play in the water. I grudgingly obliged. I put on some nylon soccer shorts and a pair of sandals. Whew, that wind was cold. The glass-cutters started poking out after about 5 minutes.

She grabbed some plastic, toy boats and gave them to me.

I ran to the top of the hill on the side of the house and put them in the raging stream of rain water. The boat raced down the hill all the way to the road where she was waiting on it. We did this a few more times. Every time we did it, it became more fun. Eventually, we would throw the boat in the stream and run down the hill through it chasing the boat along the way. We were getting soaked, but damn it if it wasn't fun!

Once we tired of the boat, we took to the woods and on to the rock. It was gorgeous. All of the moss had gotten a good watering, so it was a beautiful Irish green. There were a plethora of streams rushing towards the lake that is across the street from our house. Three of our cats had followed us onto the rock. They were soaked too, but they didn't seem to mind. I playfully splashed some of them. They flinched but didn't scratch the hell out of me as they would normally.

We heard a loud crashing sound and turned just in time to see an old, dead tree go crashing to its grave in the woods.

After about 30 minutes, the rain started coming down again, so we made our way back to the house. In the woods, mid-stream actually, she stopped in front of me and turned around. She pushed me up against a near-by tree and kissed me passionately. I reciprocated and started running my hands all over her wet body and gently tugged her dripping hair. She tilted her hair back in response, and I nibbled her neck. After about 3 minutes, I was hard, but it started raining harder. We started laughing and running like savages to the house splashing and shoving each other the whole way.

Once we got back into the house, we tore our clothes off and jumped into the hot shower. About halfway through the shower, the power went out.

After the shower, we played Phase 10 by candlelight until bed at 9:30.

Thank you, Ivan, for making my night on September 16, 2004.

XOXOXO

Okay, Marge, as long as we're traumatizing the kids, I have a scandalous
