In 1969 Alice Cooper was formed.
Now looking at it from the year 2004 you would be quite entitled to say SO WHAT.
At the time though Alice Cooper was so far out there that; like Marilyn Manson etc have been; they were seen by many parents, politicians and clerics as a threat to the very fabric of society itself.
Now I would like to be able to say that Alice Cooper just suddenly exploded on the scene like an atom bomb. However that would be a lie because they actually went through several line ups and changes of name before settling on the style and name.
Soon however the myths about the band were building on top of the reality. Their stage show was huge and totally in your face which set off a whole trend amongst other musicians.
They created the whole concept of themed stage shows to be tied in to the music. They also pretty much defined shock rock, theatre rock, and even glitter bands were just another derivative of their style.
Eventually Vince Furnier changed his name to Alice Cooper. He has continued to be inventive and reworked his whole show through several changes over the years.
Billion dollar Babies is still my favourite Cooper album.
The one thing he has never been though is a Victim. Unlike Kurt Cobain and the whole grunge movement he has always been out there with Sid Vicious singing loud and proud:
I Did It My Way!!!

Except Alice Cooper actually had musical talent.

I didn't have to read a word of this outside of the title.
+2 for a title referencing Sinatra and a picture with a woman holding her titties.
Today, I've decided to be superficial. Or at least right now.

HELL YEAH!!!!
You forgot to mention that Alice Cooper lived with Pink Floyd in both of their early days. Back then, they were called "THE Pink Floyd." They eventually dropped the "The". Cooper was also a close friend of Jim Morrison. The song "Desperado" on the "Killer" album was written for Morrison.
Anybody who has a decent, tasteful music collection, owns a guitar, or plays drums must own:
-Love It to Death
-Killer
-Billion Dollar Babies
-Greastest Hits (The old one with the gangsters on the cover, not the new one with all the '80s glam stuff)
-Welcome to My Nightmare
After 1975, the original band broke up and the quality of the music went down the toilet. However, the lyrics kept their fuck-you/just-kidding wit.
A live Alice Cooper show is also amazing. The hair-band Winger* was Cooper's backing band for the longest time before they went out on their own. The backing band is nowadays an all-star cast. The stage show is extremely entertaining: zombies, guillotines, pythons, headless dolls, etc.
Cooper opened up a restaurant called Alice Cooperstown in Phoenix recently. It has, of course a sports theme and a lot of incredible live music.
*Yeah, their music was kind of wussy, but did you ever see the sheet music for it...or even guitar tablature? Kip Winger is an amazing guitarist.

Yay.
Did you know that Cooper once ate a piece of dog shit at one of his shows?

" Well, I'm a regular visitor here, but Milwaukee has certainly had its share of visitors. The French missionaries and explorers began visiting here in the late 16th century."
