I remember when I got my first Nintendo 64. However, before that, I wanted one based on 2 factors:
1) I was young, and had no inhibitions about wasting time, so I desired one greatly (it was the shit at the time).
2) My little brother had one.
The Nintendo 64 came out in 1996, the same time the war in the Balkans ended (I don't know why, but I relate any date in history to a significant point in a world conflict). I don't really remember what games I had, but I can probably muster some up:
Games I had:
-Mario 64 .
-Starfox 64
-Mario Kart 64
-Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
-Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
-Goldeneye
That is to the best of my memory. The games I lost from my memory:
-Mario Kart 64
-Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
-any other game I couldn't remember, because I don't have it
You see kids today, and their parents have bought them, at a similar market price as the 64 was offered at back in the day, PS2's, or XBOX's, or Gamecubes. They will cherish the evolution of graphics and gameplay, yet something new will come along as they grow up, and they wish they could just spend a huge wad of cash, buy a new console, and enjoy a brand new toy.

Nothing compares to Atari. Pong, tanks, and fighter jets.

No other console has given me as much fun as N64. 4 players matches of goldeneye and mario Kart just can't be beaten. I also played turok and a few more but it wasn't as fun. Neither are today's games, or is it that i'm getting older?

I got my N64 in 2000 on account of my cousin moving to Australia and being unable to take it with him. The systems I had owned previously were the SNES and PS. Currently, I own the PS2- originally the first kid on the block for about a year to have one.

If '96 is "nostalgic" then you must be like 12, because that was practically yesterday.

Isn't that the fucking truth.
I remember jumping off the school bus, running inside and finding me pop playing my new atari 2600. I was 7-8 and the year was 1983. Jesus, that seems so long ago.
I vaguely remember some of the games, asteriods, freeway, mario bros (no fucking super involved, defender, and several others...

I was 9 when it came out, but I bought a Sega Saturn instead. Eventually I got the original playstation and n64, I bought the n64 that came with the star wars pod racer game and an extra controller. It was only when I downloaded a rom of shadows of the empire a year ago (my favorite n64 game) that I realized how shitty the graphics on the 64 were.

I LOVED Ocarina of Time. I spent so much time on that game, probably around 80 or 90 hours. Was I the only one that was pretty freaked out by the shadow temple? I hope not. Scariest dungeon by far.

I was one of those people that always used the SNES more than the 64. Goldeneye was pretty good for multiplayer, but for some reason, the system just never did much for me. I still play my original copy of Final Fantasy 3 sometimes too...
I'm saving for an X Box right now, actually. Had a PS2 for a while and a Gamecube for about a year or so. Smash Brothers Melee kicks all sorts of ass.

I remember getting mine back in January of '97. I thought it was cool when I got it, but after Sony and the other companies started springing out the new systems (like that Sega system that was cool for 8 minutes, "Dreamcast"), N64 just became real BLAH...
Still, I played the NES and SNES more than I ever played the N64.
