There were many reasons the new Star Wars movies sucked... Midiclorians were in line with what the rest of the movie dished out. Meesa gonna barf.

So we took him there,
And we told the tale
Of how his midichlorians
Were off the scale
And how he just might fulfill that prophecyyyyyy....

Reminded me of Weird Al, always a plus 2.

This post sucks. I love StarWars. I want you to get the clap, though.

My jury's still out on midichlorians. On one hand, it makes sense if he's the child of prophecy (which GL confirms he is) that the Force itself would want Anakin to be born, and therefore take it upon itself to conceive him. Still, it seems a little too convenient for that universe. It's almost like fate deciding to step in when it really ought to sit back and watch its carefully wrought plans unfold.

Then again, I think that, from a storyteller's point of view, it would have been far more interesting if Anakin had a father who had died early or disappeared. Could've set up the future for all sorts of plot twists, and would've kept in line with the Obi-Wan/Anakin father/son relationship.
