1. Of adolescents, 25% report serious consideration of suicide.
2. Of adolescents, 10% attempt suicide at some point; 10% make a second attempt; and 10% actually complete the suicide!
3. In the US, suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death among teenagers - No way! That's great!
4. Girls attempt suicide much more frequently than boys. But boys have a higher percentage of completed suicide!
REMEMBER -- Pre-Adolescent children can be suicidal too! Those poor suckers will try anything... Including riding bikes into traffic, fire-setting, and head-banging!
Now you have all the more reason to keep your kid in a cage!
By the way, I filed this message under the "Sports" category, because I think there should be a new sport. I'm not sure of the name, but it will involve two contestants.
Each is led into a seperate, completely empty room. Then, whichever contestant can commit suicide using only their bare hands wins!

explain this line.
surely those that completed and made a second attempt had 'attempted suicide at some point'. so are you saying that: a) 30% have AT LEAST attempted, whilst 10% of that 30% have had a second go and 10% have been successful, or b) 10% of kids have attempted, and by coincidence every single one of them has then had a second attempt and then completed

Sepsis, you can rest assured that I will be avoiding your posts like I avoid the pond scum who hang around waiting for someone to rape.
You know, this could have been an interesting post. There are many angles to suicide, many statistics which make frightening reading and certainly many thought provoking things you could have written based on the stats you have here.
I feel more than adequately qualified to talk to you about suicide, but a knobend like you wouldn't think to read other peoples posts to discover where their views come from. People who stir controversy to make themselves feel big don't want to broaden their minds and learn.
