If you look at it, music today is plain, boring, and annoying. I don't see how millions of teenagers can stand to listen to some band of 18 year olds whine about thier problems. You see these little "Emo"-emotional- kids AIM profiles and all you see is lyrics going something like, "I cant't go on without you, You were everything to me, I think I'll just go ahead and kill myself." Then there's all these people who claim to be in a certain crowd, like 'punk' or 'sk8r', Fuck you all. Your not shit if you go around labeling yourself. Same with bands, like "good charlote, and blink 182" Then there's this goth scene, and goth music,. I read goth music lyrics of bands like "Cradle of Filth" and see stuff like
"No church shall bar our paths
Seductive evil drink...
your fill of the bleeding christ in your arms"
What the fuck is this, it doesnt even make sence..
Anyway, I guess there's a few bands around now that are good, but Classic Rock bands are the best, because they show true talent, not banging on a guitar, whining about your dead girlfriend.

You're damn right. 99% of all music today sucks. Got to defend goth music a little, though. No, I'm not a goth, but I've heard real goth music, and Cradle of Filth doesn't belong in that crowd. Bauhaus, Joy Division, even that one album from the cure (Pornography)-that's goth music. All but the Cure album sucked.
Furthermore, there is one band that is awesome but gets filed under emo all the time- The Mars Volta.

Finally, someone who realizes that Cradle of Filth is nothing but a fairy goth poseur band for mallgoing suburbanite metrosexual kids who like emo but want to be edgier than the other kids so they buy albums by bands that use the old 'emo + double bass + contrived antichristianity = success' formula and go home and masturbate to the terribly forced blastbeats so they can go to school the next day and brag to their slightly more pussyish emo friends that they ripped their dicks off in the name of Satan which is just part of their larger plan to rise up the high school loser hierarchy and gain a few depressive lackeys so when they finally achieve their imminent suicide by slicing pentagrams into each wrist, the lackeys will be sad and the emogoth goal of spreading despression and self-loathing throughout the world will subtly realized.

I agree. I hate modern music.
However, people are entitled to like their own shitty music, and label themselves all they want. But it comes to a point where it is unberable.
But you know what really pisses me off? That fucking band, "Jet" got famous for a FUCKING COVER OF 'Are You Gonna Be My Girl.' And guess what...IT'S A SHITTY COVER. Jesus. I cant believe this shit sometimes.

I don't really like to classify the bands the way you have. However, Cradle of Filth isn't goth. Not entirely anyway, and they have some good lyrics and great music. I'll also defend Marilyn Manson in that some of his early stuff (ie Spooky Kids and PoaAF) is at least worthy of a listen. If you're into avant-garde and even completely ridiculous things, that is.
I'd also venture to say that some classic rock bands "banged" around a bit on guitar. Bands like Pink Floyd and King Crimson did quite a bit that wasn't technically musically very good. But it was great.
And let us not forget the most important thing. When music we call classic rock today was the modern rock of it's day... there were people saying the same thing you are. You like what you grow up with, and not necessarily what your parents or your children do. That's the way music works.

They just don't make bands like MC5 and Rage Against The Machine anymore. You've got this fucking Clearchannel controlling what people listen to on the radio, and they aren't going to give airtime to any band with a real message, so instead they put shit with meaningless lyrics, then make a big deal about how 'controversial' Eminem supposedly is. If he is so fucking controversial then why the fuck would they play his music? Because it isn't, but if they make a big deal about him they are avoiding bands and musicians who are genuine. Clearchannel, what a fucking joke.

This has been said before, and It'll be said again. Just because YOU don't like something doesn't mean its not good. Yes, a band can suck, and can be bad, and have terrible everything about them. I fucking hate all rap. Doesn't mean it sucks. Someone likes it, and its good to them. I can't stand it. So in a way, I agree with you, a lot of new music sucks, but in another way I don't because you are ignorant and take your opinions too seriously lee lee. True, alot of modern day rock sucks. But you still find the occasional gems eg. The Butterfly Effect (Aussie band), there's plenty more. They just aren't mainstream I guess.

Nirvana may have been a bit better than other contemporary rock bands, but I would still agree with you in classifying them as shit.
And as long as your definition of "classic rock" doesn't include Van Halen, Guns 'N' Roses, Molly Hatchet, Elton John, KISS, or anything from the '80s, then I agree with everything you said.
