Well, it's been fun Uber, but I'm off.
I've accomplished everything I set out to do:
-- Made the MVA (If only for a few hours at this point and soon to be passed by smurfs)
-- Made the MVM (With my first MsPaint: http://www.ubersite.com/m/38520 )
-- Introduced MsPaint as a respectable art form
-- FilthyAssistant said the phrase "I want you to do me"
-- Killed a hooker and fed her to a stegosaurus
Consider me officially retired.

Maybe if you get this message before you go, it might cheer you up. I really don't know you, nor do I care to know you, only because knowing a person only makes it that much harder to lose them. The fact is, is that this message touched me. Personally, I'm not the type of person to admit something like this. But it's partially because I'm in that mood, and because I'm listening to some good music. I do firmly believe people will miss you. In fact, it's quite noticible, due to the fact that your still on the MVA, and personally, I think you're still making you're way up. There are people out there who you don't have to know, to know you miss them. I truly sympathize for the situation your in, and I sympathize for your family. A goodbye note always brings a tear to my eyes, and I'm not really the gushy mushy type. I found this hard to read, and I really wish you well in the future. Maybe if you do make it back alive, you'll read this message, and I hope it brings light to the fact that there really are people that care, and that we're sincere when we say we do.

FYI: they don't ususally print an obituary of someone in the paper the day of, seeing as though the paper is printed in the morning or even the night before, obit's are ususally printed days and even weeks after the person's death. my grandfathers death years ago wasn't printed for 4 months. plus, they would never print an obit untill aleast after the funeral.

I see what you're saying, and in part, I agree with it, but I think you're going too far. The random joe comment suggests that we should all call shenanigans for fear of being labelled a sucker. I'm saying fuck that, in a situation where you have nothing to lose, why not err on the side of compassion. On the side of 'put yourself in someone else's place for a second and imagine how much that must fucking suck'.
Could gib (or indeed anyone on Uber) die today and their death have no impact on my life whatsoever? Of course. But, rightly or wrongly, he seems like a nice guy, and there's a severe shortage of those in the world as far as I'm concerned. There's a place for brutal truth and this is not it. I've lost people close to me and it hurts like hell, and I'm sure as dammit going to empathise with someone else in a similar (and even justifiably worse) situation. If that makes me a hypocrite then so be it. So long as I can live with myself and my actions I see no reason for you to express concern over my viewpoint.

Okay, I'm basically tossing myself into the fucking flaming pits of uber here, but here goes.
How is feeling anguish or regret at gibberish's situation hypocritical? How is it anything but compassionate, and above all else, courteous.
There is a difference between you and me. I actually knew gibberish somewhat well. All-in-all I've logged about 32 hours of conversation with him. That's more than I've had with my dad in the past five years.
So for me to sit back and be a cold-hearted asshole when the news of his diagnosis flickers up on my yellowish-tinted computer screen, and not feel bad about it, is simply impossible.
Here is what is going to fuck me over.
When I read the post and IMed gibberish, confirming the claims, I spent the next five hours in borderline tears.
It's not that I knew the guy, or that I liked him, which I do, it's the fact that he's seventeen fucking years old and on his way out. I'm sixteen and I know if I got the news that I had a year to live, tops, I wouldn't be dealing with it as well as he appears to be.
Then again, who am I to say how I'd handle it? Maybe I would be handling it as well. I honestly can't say, but I can say that I don't think I'd be dealing as well as he is.
Seventeen years old. He can't even legally buy alcohol yet.

Hey Gib,
Thanks for sharing your many talents with us. You have created many beautiful things, and I am sure that you would have graced this planet with much more if you had more time.
I don't know what to say other than thank you for being so open to all of the joy and support that this little community can offer. I don't think that is a very easy thing to do, but you did it, and through the purity of your heart we in turn had no choice but to embrace you in return.
Good luck on the journeys that may or may not be ahead of you. The only advice that I can make is that you should be taking this time to connect with yourself and with nature. You're about to return wholly to both.
