It is all black and white to everyone here. Critical thinking is an attribute long forgotten in America's classrooms. Hell, they're just happy if they can teach the ignorant fuckers to read. And if they can add and subtract they'll probably end up getting honors diplomas.

I have plenty of comparisons I could make, or I could state it theoretically. Either way, everyone would misunderstand it and slant it to suit their own viewpoints. If I feel like recanting that I'll make it into a post. Until then, lick my balls.

I believe the official Kerry viewpoint on this is that he believed Saddam was a threat and supported the authorization of force as a way to coerce a resumption of inspections in Iraq. The disagreement is with the options that were exhausted before invading. A valid perspective.

That said, my gut tells me that his vote on the resolution was strongly motivated by the public popularity of an Iraq invasion at the time. The truth is probably between his position and my gut feeling.

Either way, plenty of gafs, flip flops, lies and misstatements can be attributed to either of the candidates. We could just as easily point to Bush opposing the 9-11 commission whose findings he now publicly praises. I'm sure another Kerry contradiction and a matching Bush contradiction can be found very easily. These are both politicians and will go with positions that are popular with their bases.

Rather than voting based on who has done more wrong, it is more constructive to look at whose policies best reflect what you think is a better approach to governing the country for the next 4 years. Neither candidate got into any depth on their plans during the debates. This is to be expected from a 2 minute answer.

Both candidates have detailed versions of their plans on their respective websites. Stop listening to one sided, negative assaults on the candidates and read up on what they plan to do if handed control of the nation.

I am begining to see that no posters ideas will ever be changed, so why do we keep going at. Lets focus on why we believe the way we do. Everyone knows Kerry changes stances. Everyone knows Bush is a terrible speaker. Lets get off these candidiates, and on to issues.

+2 because of the "Flipper" song. I love that show!!

OK fair enough. Kerry changed his position on about supporting the war. You're right. . .

And the other side of the coin:

Bush's reasoning for going to war, which is a much more important issue. Kerry's support for the war hasn't cost us hundreds of billions of dollars or tens of thousands of lives, Bush's rush to war has.

First it was Al Qaeda. Then it was WMD. Then it was that Saddam himself was a weapon of mass destruction. Then we would be greeted as liberators. Then Ahmed Challabi was the go-to guy being set up to become the Prime Minister, OOPS! He's a spy for the Iranians! Then 80% of Iraq is safe. Then the FUCKING GREEN ZONE GETS BOMBED. Guess again. And that's pretty fishy reasoning coming from an administration full of members that have been urging the Government to invade Iraq since the mid-nineties.

From the debate transcript:

KERRY: Six months after he said Osama bin Laden must be caught dead or alive, this president was asked, "Where is Osama bin Laden?" He said, "I don't know. I don't really think about him very much. I'm not that concerned."

BUSH: Gosh, I just don't think I ever said I'm not worried about Osama bin Laden. It's kind of one of those exaggerations.

From the transcript of a March 2002 White House press briefing:

Q: But don't you believe that the threat that bin Laden posed won't truly be eliminated until he is found either dead or alive?

THE PRESIDENT: Well, as I say, we haven't heard much from him. And I wouldn't necessarily say he's at the center of any command structure. And, again, I don't know where he is. I -- I'll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him. I know he is on the run.

--

I guess Osama just isn't that important to the war on terror, huh?
WELL THEN WHO THE FUCK IS?

It might be of interest to follow whats going on in Nevada, where a republican-controlled group, apparently, has been ripping up voter registrations submitted by democrats.

A lawsuit is in progress.

I really dont see how anyone can consider themselves a decent human being and vote for that piece of shit.

I guess being a good person is of little importance to many, and blowing up iraq is of much importance.

Bush already has my vote, but I have to say this...

...You're not going to convince anyone of anything with this video.
It was issued by the RNC.
Anything issued directly by the RNC or DNC is going to be viewed as too skewed to hold water.

As accurate as it may or may not be, this will not change many peoples current opinions.

I still disagree with Kerry on the Iraq war, but I will vote for him because at this point, he has a much better approach to the situation than Bush.

____________________________________________________________________________________________

WTF?!?!

Please tell me what his fucking plan is. That's (notice the apostrophe fags) all we ever hear about. When asked specifics, he always dodges the questions. He has not EVER explained his so called 'plan'. Fuck Kerry.

I disagree with Kerry's position on entering the war. (I have always agreed with Dean on this matter.) But to say he's "flipped and flopped" is grossly overstated. Even this heavily-cropped and obviously one-sided video presentation, it's quite evident that Kerry has maintained a rather solid stance on the war. He has been in support of using force, but wished to gain international assistance before entering. His statement about the President "reserving the right to act unilaterally" is taken far out of context of the complete quote.

I still disagree with Kerry on the Iraq war, but I will vote for him because at this point, he has a much better approach to the situation than Bush.

I would've preferred Dean as a President, but he would have had little chance to beat Bush in November.

It's a tired phrase, but I'm voting for the lesser of two evils.

It would be easy to create a similar video of the Bush Administration.

The clips ranged over 13 years - is it so bad for a viewpoint to change over that time?

What I see is a nuanced world policy that has changed with the world, as new information is uncovered.
Sure there is an element of political expediency, but that is true of all politicians.
