Well, well, well.
It's Oktuber 18, which can only mean one thing...
EIGHTEEN DAYS.
Eighteen days to the largest Uber bonanza of Biblical proportions.
If you're just hearing of this now, you're out of the loop, and therefore have two options:
I) Educate your ignorant ass by reading the original post, found at http://www.ubersite.com/m/47072
II) Seppuku.
The purpose of this post is to, as previously promised, hammer out some of the finer details of how this shiznit will go dizzown. Fo sheezy.
First up: The attendance list as it stands presently, derived from comments on the last post and ordered by who I like best. If you're not on here, we don't know that you plan on coming- so let us know in the review on this post.

You people aren't fooling anyone. Be sure to redeem yourselves by assuring us that you will be there, regardless of how many have to die for it to happen.
Next: the mailing list. If you have not been getting e-mails on the mailing list, or have not yet requested to be added, contact me at prophet.at.mislead.us and I will set you up. This mailing list allows important updates to be sent out (yeah, right) and the attendees to bitchslap each other verbally in preparation for the coming raucousness and debauchery.
Also- if you need a ride to or from an airport (or anywhere else, including to the conference itself), if you need to set up housing, if you need tickets to WillZone's show- basically, if you're still in need of anything, now is the time to contact me or Jiggawhere? via e-mail. Alternatively, you can leave a comment here with your request. We will try to help you guys out where we can.
Immediate considerations: Since we're two and a half weeks out, it's important to set up housing, transportation, and tickets to Will's show if you need 'em. You guys should share housing recommendations here, and offer to split rooms- it's the only way some people are going to be able to get into this conference.
Hotels in New York too expensive? Pshhhh, don't be a retard- stay in New Jersey! It's three miles from the city, you can get a room for under $70, and it's $2 by bus to travel into downtown. There are also transit options by means of trains, ferrys, or sexual favors. Orbitz.com, Hotels.com, travelocity.com, and Expedia.com all have hotel options that compare different rates from different chains in the area. Feel free to price shop! Just be sure to book soon... don't let yourself run out of time.
When you're booking a hotel, be smart and try to get a room with a single twin bed. You're not too much of a sandy vagina to sleep on the floor, right? As long as the hotel staff doesn't see the nine people making there way up to the same room, you should be able to pull off a major discount here.
WillZone's comedy show, entitled "Be All That You Can Buy", is playing at Juvie Hall (24 Bond Street, between Bowery & Lafayette, at The Gene Frankel Theater). It runs on the following dates:
Friday, November 5th @ 10PM
Saturday, November 6th @ 10PM
Tickets are $10, and are available online at www.smarttix.com, or by calling 212-868-4444. It seems to be the general consensus that we're all going to the show on the 6th.
We need to set up a place to meet up on Friday. I suggest we have a series of meet times, so that people coming in at various hours will be able to catch up with the group. I will be settled into my hotel room and ready to meet up by 4, and I've heard rumors that some will be able to show up sooner. So, here's what I propose: a central meeting location, where the group will either show up together or send a representative to collect the others, at 2PM, 4PM, 6PM, 8PM, and 10PM. Those of you who live in or around the city, please help us out by making some suggestions as to where that meeting place can be. If you show up outside of these times, it's your responsibility to track us down.
On that note, feel free to exchange cell phone numbers on this post... better yet, sign up for the mailing list and send it to everyone there. We need to be able to get in touch with each other. If you're already on the mailing list, now'd be a good time to send that info out.
A quick note on safety concerns: it's New York City, you're a tourist (presumably with cool things like a camera, tourist money, souveniers, cell phones, and nifty sneakers- all things that the creatures of the night would love to take from you). Not all the hype about the city is true, and I'm not encouraging you to worry, as I'm sure you'll be fine if you take the proper precautions. But there are certain things you may want to take with you: a money belt to store valuables under your clothing (nearly impossible for pickpockets to lift), perhaps some mace, a personal assault rifle, or Evander Holyfield.
Though these things aren't necessary to have a good time, having taken proper precaution will almost certainly make you feel a little more at easy and enjoy yourself to the fullest when you're stumbling down the street in a drunken stupor at four in the morning.
Another thing to keep in mind is groups- common, simple knowledge, but something people don't pay attention to all the time. When coming to or from your hotel, be sure to travel with your roommates instead of going early and meeting them somewhere. If you have to wait for so-and-so to dry her hair in the morning or wash the puke out of it at night, whatever- better safe than sorry.
The next (and probably final) post before the actual event is going to be an Itinerary, so we're not just drinking all day and passing out. I mean, we could totally do that, but when in New York, you might as well take some of it in. So I will list the events that have been suggested thus far, and I encourage you guys to respond with which events you intend to go to so we can set up some groups and times, and keep shit neat. Nah mean?
Events suggested by you guys so far:
- Central Park Zoo
- Museum of Sex
- Guggenheim Museum
- Metropolitan Museum of Art
- WillZone's show
- Broadway musical
- Churrascharia (an "all you can meat" fiesta; someone mentioned the Master Grill for $20)
- Bars, nightclubs, restaurants, etc. (suggestions included Hogs and Heifers; Cloisters; Virgil's BBQ)
- Hotel parties: if you all like, we could probably keep a couple parties going at all hours of the night (done in shifts or suttin) for those of us that don't sleep or that keep odd hours. We need people to volunteer their hotel rooms for this- most appropriate volunteers would be those staying in the fancy hotels located within NYC limits and people who have rooms designed to accomodate more than two people.
- Times Square: arcades, shops, touristy stuff.
- The Statue of Liberty: it's green. It's fucking enormous. What more do you need to know?
- Empire State Building
We're also going to need some of you to volunteer as tour guides- so if you're from the city, and want to help in that regard, do it up! Just let us know on this post.
Last, but certainly not least, we need you guys to hype this shit. We want as many people to come to this as possible, right? So here's what you can do to help: tell your Ubersite buddies on AIM, make your own Oktuberfest anticipation posts, and HEAT, HEAT, HEAT this mother fucker!
Also, keep an eye on the Uberboard. If you don't mind sparing a buck and you don't see that anyone else has hyped the post on there today, be cool and toss in your one hundred cents. If each person that has already agreed or thought about coming puts up a buck, we can hype this on the Uberboard all the way through to the date of the event. I will start us off with an advert after posting this.
Those of you who said you were coming and already flaked out on us... you should totally be hyping this conference more than once on the board to make up for your inadequacy! Not on the same day, of course. But seriously. Don't be that guy.
