UN Peace Keepers Certainly Aren't Doing Anything to Help Keep Peace (688 hits)

The title says it all: They aren't keeping peace, they are making chaos. In an instance in 1997, several united nations peace keepers stood on trial for roasting a Somali boy over an open fire, alive. The case was dismissed because they couldn't find the boy to testify. No shit they couldn't the boy. He was roasted alive. While these men and women are out setting fire to the youth of Somalia, the real problems within the countries still stand. They are neglecting their duties as peace keepers and violating and destroying the lives of those that they are supposed to be protecting. And getting away with it, punishment free.
That was not an anomaly. Peace keepers have abused their power many, many times. And justify it by saying, as one Italian paratrooper put it, "What's the big deal? They are just niggers anyway." They have padlocked young children in metal boxes and left them out in the sun until they died of heat stroke. They have abused their access to helicopters by using them for illegal drug smuggling. They have forced children to drink vomit, salt water and worms. No one is punishing them for their deeds. Child Brothels have been discovered within several UN camps. Who is punishing them for their rape and plunder? No one.
This is why I propose that the US join the ICC. They only reasons that Bush has given against joining is his unreasonable fear that American troops will be forced under the spotlight and prosecuted. Should the United States join the ICC it would endorse, it in a way that would possibly inspire other countries to do the same, thus pushing for not only a globalized planet, but a Peacekeeper abuse free planet. Support the removal of Bush from office for an abuse-free Somalia.

The US won't join the ICC because it would violate the Constitution. I really don't follow your logic of not having Bush in office resulting in a stoppage of UN abuse. I'm for the disbanding or reorganizing of the UN. They have recently only proven themselves to be corrupt (Oil for Food scandal) and incapable of following through on their threats (Iraq continually ignoring Security Council resolutions).
