We arrived back at camp to find everything scattered around the clearing. There was tree mail again: "Penalty: Failure to complete challenge successfully". Those bastards destroyed our camp because we didn't complete the challenge before sunset! None of us was in any kind of shape to try to deal with it that night so we built up a fire and slept around the fire pit.
We awoke the next morning tired and stiff. We were all sore aside from Amy who was still asleep we ate a meager breakfast listening to her muttering in her sleep. The gash on her forehead looked worse today, it was bright red all around the wound and was oozing a disgusting yellowish pus. We tried to wake her to no avail; Rachel put her hand on the side of Amy's face and then drew it back quickly.
"She's burning up!"
We didn't know what to do for Amy; she needed medical attention that we could not provide. We did our best for her, trying to keep her cool, making sure she drank lots of water and Todd made her a stew of rice and fish.
It was time to survey the damage to our camp, it was far worse than what the storm had done. Our shelter was completely destroyed and our few possessions were strewn everywhere, there was stuff in the trees above us! None of us had the energy or the will to clean up again but we did it anyway, we had no choice. So, we gathered everything into piles of clothing, tools, and food, and began to erect a new shelter. Our past experience building the first shelter, coupled with the fact that Todd was now quite adept at using the vines around us for rope, allowed us to build a much nicer and stronger home. We didn't finish until late in the afternoon and by that time we were so tired that we didn't move everything into it. We carried Amy inside, grabbed our blankets, and went in to sleep.
When I got up the next morning the first thing I noticed was that Amy was gone again, then I heard the sound of a roaring fire. I stepped out of the shelter to find Jeff sitting on one our makeshift log chairs.
"Good morning Ben."
"Yeah", I said not feeling inclined to talk to one of the assholes responsible for making our lives a living hell. "Where's Amy?"
"We've taken her to the compound for treatment, it wasn't very nice of you guys to not tell us how bad off she was. She's running a very high fever and the cut on her forehead is infected."
"Since when do you care? You guys bring us out here, killing seven of us and now all of a sudden you're going to offer medical assistance?"
"Settle down Ben, as I said on the first day, your contracts are available for review at any time, Amy is entitled to care for illness. The infection she'll have to overcome on her own though she may get help with that unintentionally when she's treated for the fever. We feel she's just got a sever cold from running around in the rain and lying in a puddle for so long that night. She'll be right as right can be, and be back with you in no time."
"Let me get this right, you'll treat us for illness but if we're injured in any way, we're on our own?"
"That's mostly right, if you're injured severely, enough we'll help you out by ending your suffering early."
I was fuming, I was outraged, I started toward him meaning to tear his stupid face off and was once again cowed as he raised his gun to point it at my head.
"Ben, you've really got to control that temper, you don't want to be disqualified do you? Make sure the rest of the group knows that Amy is safe and sound and will be returned to you camp when she is on the mend."
It was three days later that Amy rejoined us. By then we'd sorted camp out again and had been able to improve some of our original setups. We were starting to feel ourselves again, not so crampy and sore, and when Amy returned we were truly happy to see her. The next day was the day we wished we would have forfeited the "Sisyphus Challenge".

Well, i Guess I still haven't gotten used to the way this site works sometimes. I thought people rated items after reading them and, aside from the flame wars, rated based on the content. I really do appreciate those of you have so diligently kept up with this and those that read one post and rate me on the content. I'm not gonna get too hung up on the rating since I'm mostly writing this for my own entertainment anyway but I will listen to actual criticism. Thanks again for reading!
