April 25, 1857.
Today was so tiresome. His Highness ate at his club this evening. I was glad that I did not have to sit through another evening of his weary pontificating. He hasn't touched me for two months now. Not since that terrible night when we got married.
He spent this afternoon with his secretary locked up doing some very important business.
James is such a dear young man but quite effeminate in many ways. His Highness has often said that he does not know what he would do without him.
Cousin Mary came to tea at three, and she told me some wonderfully outrageous stories, about her affair with her groomsman. It made me quite envious and wet.
Tomorrow I have a fitting for a new riding dress. I could have her come here, but I am so looking forward to getting out.
April 26, 1857.
What a day!
It was so lovely that I took the open carriage. The warm wind and gentle sunshine made me quite sleepy.
When we arrived at the tailoress's, I was not myself. I slipped, getting down from the carriage, and Higgins had to catch me. His chest was so hard, and his arms so strong, that I felt quite strange and flustered. His hand brushed my breast as he helped me up and I felt a wonderful thrill.
The poor man was quite mortified.
The new dress is quite lovely. I had to try it out on the saddle horse to check its fitting. When I mounted the saddle the pommel pushed hard against my womanhood. It made me feel quite faint.
Coming home I could not take my eyes off the horses. Their powerful canter and their glistening coats was quite majestic.
I don't know when I have felt this excited, my heart is all aflutter and there is a strange knot in the pit of my stomach.
James was just leaving when I arrived home, and he looked quite flustered. Not his usual immaculate self at all.
I put on a lovely spring dress for tea with His Highness. I don't know why I bothered. Politics was all he talked about, and then he went to bed, saying he was quite tired after his busy day.
I keep thinking about Higgins hand brushing my breast.
April 27, 1857.
Today I could not get out of bed. The excitement yesterday quite wore me out and I felt quite ill.
Mary is coming over tomorrow at three.
April 28, 1857.
At tea Mary was quite concerned about me. I was still feeling peaky and she remarked upon it.
I don't know what came over me, but I suddenly blurted out that His Highness had not been with me since our wedding night, and that that had been a horrible time as well.
Mary was quite shocked and did her best to quiet me. She suggested that I try dressing very promiscuously and then surprise His Highness. She is so modern in her thinking and kept talking about conjugal rights being the right of both partners and everything.
I am quite confused.
April 29, 1857.
I was not myself today. I am very irritable and confused by Mary's talk and keep feeling Higgins hand brushing my breast.
I so want His Highness to do that to me and take me but I am sure he would see my need as an affront.
I could not eat a thing at tea, and he was off at his club again this evening.
April 30, 1857.
I am so mortified I don't know what to do or whom to turn to.
This afternoon I could contain myself no longer. I was sure that his Highness was alone so I dressed in my nicest dress and had the girl do my hair. I put on the lovely pearl necklace, that His Highness gave me for my birthday last year.
I had decided to take a little bit of Mary's advice and try surprising His Highness.
I went to his study but found it was locked; so I went to his bedroom that adjoins his study. Opening the door I was shocked by what I saw. His Highness was standing by the bed and James, his secretary, had him in his mouth. His Highness was bigger than he got with me, on our wedding night.
I screamed. His Highness swore at me and called me a slut. I just didn't know what to say and fled to my rooms and locked myself in.
How can he do that with a man and not do it to me?????
