eh... Ubersite isn't the place for political statements. I might have +1'd this if you'd said "HAR HAR PEENER" after the pictures.

Who are you to say what Ubersite is and isn't the place for?

On the other hand - poster - you make a good point.

Hey hey hey. For once I will say something that is actually proof of the intelligence of teenagers. A war fought over imperialism is unjust, being that scaled down it would be unjust. If a man wishes to take his neighbour home is it legal to walk in and kill that neighbour, take his house, and fuck his daughter? Not only that, but war is simply the act of murder acted out repeatedly. If Homocide is illegal, why isn't genocide?

that's war. over it.

We're not at war, asshat. Congress has the authority to declare war, not the president.

What we're on right now is a series of relatively short military operations, which the president is allowed to conduct under the constitution.

Vietnam never had Congressional approval either, yet I'd call that a motherfucking war. Shut the fuck up.

Lots of people in the world hate Americans. Reason - "they hate our freedom". Aparently "they" don't hate the swedish, the danes, the belgians or even the japanese. Maybe because the japanese or the belgians or the danes are not as free as we are. OR maybe because we supported so many tyrannical regimes in saudi arabia, egypt, sudan, ethiopia ..... that it became easy for people in those countries - "the lesser mortals", to be frustrated, angry and really really pissed off. So that while the members of those puppet goverments and monarchies made loads and loads of money (for example just look at the lifestyle of one of the some 500 saudi princes) the people were steeped in poverty, diseases and iliteracy. And it became so easy for the "people with a cause" to brainwash them and recruit them in the name of religion to blow up their bodies with bombs to take revenge. And then we armed those "resistance fighters"( yeah, we called them resistance fighters in the 80's) - who came to be known as the taliban in Afghanistan to keep the Russians at bay. The CIA spent abount 8 billion US dollars in 1980's money to arm the resistance fighters.
And ohhh....We and Israel were the only two countries in the world who voted against the International Charter Against Terrorism in 1967.
And let's not forget the people we killed in Haiti, Nicaragua and Vietnam. The Nicaraguans won the case against us in the International Court of Justice but we said "Fuck off" - we won't give a damn about the rulings of the international court of justice.
Damn....we've got a long history.
And then the Iraq wars.
I think all these make us real popular, I mean what the fuck - how dare people hate us.

You didn't bother to read your own link, jackass. Who are these "Public health experts" who have "estimated" this? People that are trying to persuade the election. (Mentioned at the end of the article).

And non-government experts have said numbers of 10,000 - 30,000 have died.

Go ahead and believe one side and not the other because it fits what you want it to. Fucking liberals don't care for the truth, that is a fucking fact right there.

I wish I could choke the 3-4 of you who constantly post this bullshit.

There's no way in hell 10,000 - 30,000 have died. Not even by the most conservative estimates would that be likely. 30,000 - 50,000 might be a closer estimate, but 100,000 seems fair enough. As long as America's safe though right?

As someone said, American lives are worth much more than Iraqi lives. So who cares?

Why does no one ever read links?

READ THE CNN LINK:

"The experts from the United States and Iraq said most of those who died were women and children and air strikes from coalition forces accounted for most of the violent deaths."

You're right, we totally should have waited for them to kill more people before we attacked them! That way the death counts would have been nearly equal, sure.. more civilians would have died, but hey.. it'd look better statistics wise!

McGirk, you are right. Saddam did kill more people than this war has.
BUT SADDAM WAS IN POWER FOR 30 YEARS AND BECAUSE THE US PUT HIM THERE!
The US has been in Iraq for only 1.5 years and we've already done 1/12th of the damage.
This war was a huge mistake.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, but the war won't last 24 years
***

Yes, but if it lasts 12, then we'll have killed just as many. And, you have to understand that these people could have simply rebeled and overthrown Saddam. They'll have a lot tougher time trying to overthrow the US's military. They're now in a situation where they are hopelessly under our control and all that we're doing is killing them at an excruciating rate.

You estimate that 70-125 people died every day under Saddam.

But under US occupation, between 175-200 Iraqi civilians are dying every day.

AND THAT'S ONLY CIVILIANS (mostly women and children)! That's not even counting combatant deaths.

We're killing more at a quicker rate then Saddam did.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You're just pulling this out of your ass, aren't you? IF it lasts another twelve years with the same amount of causualties as there has been. That's a pretty big if, wouldn't you think? They could have simply rebelled? And you're basing this on... what, exactly? Do you think America is going to stay in Iraq for another 12 years? Hopelessly under our control? They're having elections. A democratic system is being put into place, they will be able to choose in time enough. But like I said, we can't tell whether this war will be for better or for worse, YET.

There are no idiots to two sides of an argument, the only idiots are the ones who make up their minds before the facts are in. So don't let your mind be made up just yet. Wait, let's say, 30 years, and we'll both be able to agree.

Don't be stubborn.

- and mostly women and children? What are you basing this on? Give me a ligitimate source, please.

I don't know whether these was needless loss yet, none of us do.

And I'm not saying the losses aren't terrible. They are. I don't want to see anyone die.

But the argument I'm trying to make is if things get better for the Iraqis, and they don't end up with someone like Saddam that will kill Iraqis anyways, then you'd have to say, this war was the lesser of two evils.

But we don't know that yet. You don't know that yet, I don't know that yet, nobody knows that yet. And anybody ignorant enough to make assumptions this early on in the game is getting a -2 from me.

Hey, CoachMagirk, calm down. I wasn't out and out calling you racist.
I just can't understand how someone can say:
"so-and-so killed so many, and someone else killed such-and-such. Since someone killed less than so-and-so, his deaths are acceptable - if regretable."

Worse are people like SlowlyRotting. I consider 100,000 dead (I know it's not exact) a damning argument against the war, not a "shrug your shoulders" unavoidable side-effect.

Imagine if Saddam had killed 100,000 US citizens. Imagine the reaction to that.
But because the dead are Iraqis, many killed by other Iraqis, the West doesn't care.
That's why I said dark-skinned. I wasn't accusing you of being some racist hick.

Have the presidential candidates mentioned civilian casualties? No. Does the press? Not really.
PEOPLE. JUST. DON'T. CARE.

And they should.

Saddam killed a lot of people. We killed a lot, but not as much. Saddam's killings were unjustified. Our killings were unjustified. Are we any better than them?

I think that's the main question throughout this whole war, and McGuirk(sp?) was a strong point in that only time will tell. If Iraq turns out to become a leading factor in the civilization of the Middle East, then it will be an overall victory. If it becomes another Rwanda, then its a failure.

I personally think that we should not have gone into Iraq. We went in thinking there were ties to Al-Queda, there were WMD, all that shit, but there weren't any. Most nations have a revolution one time or another, with or without the help of Democratic nations.

Socialist, you're on totally the wrong tack. Reason and statistics don't sway people like Matt and CoachMajirk. In fact, it's a matter of pride for them.

Face it. Dead dark-skinned people just don't matter in America.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Zakalwe, that was a low blow. Wait... You're telling me 100,000 "dark-skinned" deaths caused by America is worse than 1,200,000 "dark-skinned" deaths by Saddam? Well... America is white so... uhh... It's much worse!

Fuck you, moron.

I never said I was glad those people died. I feel the opposite.
You are such an idiot... UGGGGGG.
Please listen to reason here.

I was telling him, "Why don't you mention the deaths caused by Saddam?" Because MORE PEOPLE DIED, AND I WAS CONCERNED THAT HE WAS BEING OVERLOOKED.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, hear what I'm saying. Be thankful America is the super-power and not Nazi Germany, or Communist Russia. If you feel so strongly, get involved in politics, and make a difference.

And don't fucking call me racist.

Fuck off mr magirk.
Saddam Hussein was an ASSHOLE. But the CIA put him there. Then you put sanctions on the country. Slap on the wrist to him; death for around 500,000 people. Yes, Saddam killed 500,000 civilians. But while he was still *your* dictator YOU LET IT GO.
I don't doubt it's a good thing to kick Saddam Hussein out, as a thing in itself. But when the first gulf war happened, there was a relatively major revolt (which was largely ignored by the media) that the US/UN chose *not* to support in throwing the bastard out. What right could you possibly have to tell the Iraqi people what they want?
And as far as freedom goes, freedom to earn $2/hr and the choice to get shat on by dumb or dumber doesn't really sound too democratic to me.
Anarchy, you sound alright - but when the shit hits the fan, a revolution without an anarchist is like a fish without a bicycle. Socialist, where are you from? Comrades in arms!

No, no its not. See the little CNN link. The US has murdered over 100,000 Iraqi civilians, most of them women and children.

------------------------------

I like how you use murdering. Did the U.S. line up 100000 civilians and shoot each one in the head? And are you including dead Iraqis that have been killed by the side shocks of an Insurgent attack on the U.S.? I think you are.

That argument is like saying that after it starts raining your house is 58 times more likely to get wet than before it started raining. It's war; people die.

By the way, we supported Iraq in their war with Iran, so I think the US is partially responsible for those 500,000 deaths.

Along with other human rights organizations, The Documental Centre for Human Rights in Iraq has compiled documentation on over 600,000 civilian executions in Iraq. Human Rights Watch reports that in one operation alone, the Anfal, Saddam killed 100,000 Kurdish Iraqis. Another 500,000 are estimated to have died in Saddam's needless war with Iran. Coldly taken as a daily average for the 24 years of Saddam's reign, these numbers give us a horrifying picture of between 70 and 125 civilian deaths per day for every one of Saddam's 8,000-odd days in power.

SADDAM KILLED 1,200,000 IRAQIS. WHERE THE FUCK IS YOUR POST ABOUT THAT? You are an idiot.

You know where you were when this was happening?

You were sitting in starbucks, sipping your mocha latte, writing shitty poetry.

You don't know anything.

I'm so sick of all these morons hating America just because it's the cool thing to do. Get your facts straight. Do your homework. America, stands for freedom, even if that doesn't come through with Mr. Bush. Yes there is corruption in America, yes their motives for war were questionable,

and yes, the loss of civilians in Iraq is terrible and for the most part unessisary.

But the truth is, we don't know if this will be better for Iraq in the long run. Democracy takes a long time, but if it grabs hold in Iraq, it will change the face of the middle east. The people in Iraq will be free, and the world will be a safer place.

If it turns out Iraq falls right back into what it was, then please, I encourage you to make this post. Wait about, thirty years. Until then, shut your ignorant ass up.

You are not interpreting these numbers correctly.

See, what you don't understand is that each American life is worth at least 35 Iraqi lives. Therefore we have plenty more before we reach our kill quota.

Also, everytime an American dies by terrorism, we can kill another 35 people guilt free.
