Poignant.
I saw Exorcist: The Beginning yesterday. It was shit, but there was a good bit in it that struck me (and made my gf cry). It was the second world war, and this priest was made to choose ten people to die out of about 30 so that the other 20 would live. If he didn't, they would all die, and the nazis started shooting the children to prompt him. It was very well done.

Despite all the dumbasses who were looking for the usual Ubersite fare of mindless ramblings, I thought this was something of substance. If I had talked about my neighbors dog being on it's period or something this would have got hundreds more hits and rave reviews.
When I read it I was struck by it. I thought I would share it with you and include a picture to show the context it was forged. I think that beyond that historical context of living in the Third Reich, it's still just as relevant today. To me, this writing is timeless and carries an important message, and one that can be applied even on election day. If you don't speak up, you might never get another chance. So vote.

I know what you mean. You just cannot expect a Republican to understand the importance of coming to the aid of an oppressed people. (yeah, that was sarcasm dripping from this sentence)
Remember that we as Americans did not come to the aid of oppressed people in WWII until after Pearl Harbor. Thats 8 years after Hitler came to power in Germany. 2 years after Hitler invaded Poland. But what did the Democratic administration do about it? They knew what was happening in Europe. They hung back until they were forced into action. Until they were the only one left.
